The sixth and final season of ‘Better Call Saul’ just aired its mid-season finale and as we expected, it was filled with sequences that took our anxieties to a whole new level. The previous episode ended with a massive setback for Saul (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim because Saul saw the real Judge Rand Casimiro in a shop with a cast on his left arm. Saul was infuriated with this and called Kim (Rhea Seehorn) immediately. He wanted to abort the mission, however, Kim said that things are going to happen as per the plan.

The mid-season finale doesn’t start with Saul or Kim, it starts with Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton) and he is thinking of making a grand entrance because he is watching his enemies closely. He has a plan in his mind and it seems the time has come to execute it. Meanwhile, Saul has someone in his pocket that would change everything.

‘Better Call Saul’ Season 6 Mid-Season Finale Ending Explained: Did Kim and Saul finally manage to sabotage Howard?

After Saul’s encounter with Casimiro in the shop, they decided to click some pictures with Saul handing out a package to Casimiro in the park. They managed to get the same actor for the judge’s portrayal and the cameraperson too. The pictures were clicked and we saw Saul running with the pictures. A car stopped by and Saul gave the man these pictures. It turns out that the private investigator hired by Howard was actually working for Saul and he took these photos to Howard to make him realize that Saul was doing something extraordinary.

It’s time for Howard, Cliff, and their representatives to sit in the conference room to discuss the Sandpiper matter. However, everything changes when Judge Rand Casimiro enters the room as a mediator and he will be telling the parties what to do after he hears both parties.

But Howard gets really frustrated after seeing him and when Casimiro said that parties would need to “compromise” on this issue, Howard snapped and said that he’s the one who compromised these proceedings. He accuses the judge of taking a bribe of almost $20,000 to jeopardize the hearings. Casimiro is appalled after hearing that, but Howard says that he has photos as proof and orders his PA to bring those photos.

She brings the packet and it turns out that the photos have been mixed. The photos brought to him now are not the ones that were shown to him earlier. Cliff gets really annoyed at that and orders a recess. Cliff believes that Howard is taking drugs and everything that’s been happening is happening because of that.

Howard believes that Jimmy McGill, aka Saul Goodman, is behind this. But Cliff says that there is no proof that he did that. The Sandpiper representatives made new deals and Cliff said that they are going to take it even if Howard is against it.

Howard’s world has fallen apart and they take the deal.

‘Better Call Saul’ Season 6 Mid-Season Finale Ending Explained: Is Lalo really going to Plan A again?

Lalo has been tracing Gus Fring from the beginning of this season. He is meeting people who were associated with him and slowly killing them. But it is show-time and he has reached Fring’s hideout. He is looking at the facility and making a plan of literally taking everyone out with a bang. For the last time, he calls Hector but soon realizes that Gus has bugged all the lines and can hear what he’ll say to Hector.

But he calls him again and tells him that Plan B didn’t work so he’s going back to Plan A. He also tells him that Gus would be getting a huge surprise tonight. The entire audio is captured in a cassette and Michael takes that audio recording to Gus Fring. He tells Gus that he needs to get out of the place because there are too many people here and there will be a lot of unwanted deaths here.

‘Better Call Saul’ Season 6 Mid-Season Finale Ending Explained: Did Lalo finally make it to Saul and Kim?

In the final few moments of the episode, we see Howard coming to meet Saul and Kim. He asks them why did they do this to him and tells Kim that he expected so much from her because she was one of the most promising minds out there. After a few moments, Howard realizes that this was not done for money, it was done for fun and he can’t believe that he has lost everything because people believe that he takes drugs.

He promised that he will land back on his feet, but then, someone from behind enter Saul and Kim’s house and it was none other than Lalo Salamanca. Saul says, “How?” after seeing him and tells Howard to leave the place before something bad happens.

Lalo takes out a gun from the back and as Howard was trying to leave, Lalo kills him by putting a bullet in his head. That’s how the mid-season ended.

There was a scene after that as well that showed Saul and Kim’s home in a black and white setting with Saul saying “After all this, a happy ending.”
