After Jessica Biel, Justin Timberlake should also apologize to Janet Jackson for Super Bowl 'nipplegate', says Bette Midler

Midler said that Timberlake apologized to his wife Jessica Biel for holding hands with a co-star and asked "when is Janet Jackson’s boob gonna get an apology?"
UPDATED DEC 11, 2019

Bette Midler wants Justin Timberlake to apologize to Janet Jackson after his recent apology to wife Jessica Biel for holding hands with his 'Palmer' co-star Alisha Wainwright.

Taking to Twitter on December 9, Midler slammed Timberlake after he was photographed sharing an intimate moment with Wainwright while inebriated at a bar in New Orleans last month, ET Online reports

"#JustinTimberlake publicly apologized to his wife for holding hands with another actress after having too much to drink, but sez nothing else happened," she tweeted. "Who cares? He held another woman’s hand, BFD."

And then she proceeded to ask, "So when is Janet Jackson’s boob gonna get an apology? #JusticeForJanet."

The controversial actress was referring to the notorious Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show incident in 2004 when Timberlake unintentionally exposed Jackson's breast on live television as they performed their final song.

Following the unprecedented controversy, Jackson's career took a downward trajectory. Furthermore, the term 'wardrobe malfunction' originated from this incident. Media reports at the time revealed the costume was meant to reveal a red lace bra underneath a leather cap.

The stunt resulted in the red lace being torn away along with the top, thereby exposing her breast to full public view. Following the incident, Jackson lost her popularity and was essentially blacklisted for several years. Meanwhile, Timberlake barely received any criticism, and was even invited to perform at the Super Bowl LII halftime show in 2018.

That said, Timberlake drew enough heat for the recent hand holding incident, which sparked a barrage of rumors that forced the 'Sexy Back' hitmaker to address the controversy on Instagram last week.

"I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family, I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love," Timberlake wrote. "A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my costar. I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior."

"I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son," he continued. "I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be. This was not that. I am incredibly proud to be working on Palmer. Looking forward to continuing to make this movie and excited for people to see it."
