TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA: Ben Shapiro's height is 5ft 9 inches (1.75m) as claimed by himself. The American commentator and author had the last laugh at a live event held by Young America’s Foundation on Monday, November 15, in Florida, when a student attempted to troll the conservative pundit over his alleged 'short' height. 

The sensational Daily Wire boss spoke on critical race theory and “wokeness” during a speaking event on Florida State University’s campus. The sold-out event, titled “How wokeness is destroying America,” was hosted by the College Republicans at FSU and FSU’s Institute of Politics, according to Tristan Wood of Florida Politics.

Shapiro, 37, has done over 50 college campus events with Young America's Foundation, a conservative youth organization founded in 1969.

During the Q&A session of the event, one audience member brought up Shapiro’s height, something he's often targeted for.

“Um, how come you claim to be 5’9 even though you’re like 5’5?” the student asked.

“How tall are you?” Shapiro responded.

“I’m *actually* 5’9”, the student insisted.

“Okay come over here, let’s see”, Shapiro said to cheers and applause.

The crowd began clapping as the student walked toward the stage. Shapiro offered to assist him onto the stage, but the student hopped on himself possibly in a bid to assert dominance.

But when they stood next to each other, they were basically the same exact height, prompting the audience to erupt with laughter and applause.

“I’ve been waiting years to do that,” Shapiro quipped.

"Height isn’t the measure of how tall a man stands! There are many physically big men who never stand tall," one offered.

"I’m 6’1 but I say I am 5’11 just for this reason. it helps people to have self-esteem if you go low, and make them feel better. When people ask me how tall I am I always say shorter than they think. Height has nothing to do with character or morals. Wisdom is more important," someone else commented.

The conservative firebrand also drew parallels between "wokeness" and critical race theory, an academic concept that argues racism is not just a product of individual bias or prejudice but is also entrenched in legal systems and policies.

Shapiro insisted that while systemic racism in the United States was a thing of the past, interpersonal racism wasn't unique to the country.

“Racism, as anyone who looks at the world right now, could note, is present in every society forever for all time,” he said. “It’s just an ugly part of human nature.”

Shapiro also pointed to Glenn Youngkin‘s stunning victory in Virginia’s gubernatorial race earlier this month as a sign that denouncing CRT was the way to go for Republicans to succeed in the 2022 midterm elections.

Youngkin fervently opposed CRT in public schools as a key talking point in his campaign. “Wokeness is going the way of the pterodactyl, and it should,” Shapiro said.
