Rayna Lindsey, the new deckhand on 'Below Deck' Season 9 is known for her witty commentary and dark humor. But the recently aired episode of the hit Bravo show showcased a totally different side of this usually jovial and easygoing deckhand. Rayna and her fellow deckhand Wes O'Dell were having a casual chat after a long tiring day when Wes asked Rayna how she got interested in the yachting world.

Rayna shared that she wanted to be on a yacht ever since she first saw one and that's how she ended up in the industry. Wes then shared his observation of how there aren't many Black people in the yachting industry. Rayna blamed it on racism. When Wes seemed a bit skeptical about the existence of racism, Rayna recounted her own painful experience of growing up as a Black woman in America, and all the horrific experiences that she had to endure which left her deeply traumatized. Rayna then left Wes and fans shocked when she recpunted how she was beaten up and maced at by the cops for just being Black.

Rayna also shared an instance of when she was randomly beaten up by three White men in an elevator for no reason. A very emotional Rayna expressed in her green room interview that after factoring in all the awful experiences she had as a Black woman she decided to never have children as she wasn't keen on putting her kids through the same painful experiences. Wes admitted that he too had experienced a bit of racism despite having a White father, but his experiences weren't as intense or scary as Rayna's and declared he couldn't even imagine what his fellow 'Below Deck' star lived through.

Fans too felt sad and heartbroken on hearing about Rayna's experiences. A fan tweeted, "Hearing stories like Rayna’s really shows that the hate is still alive in America against people of color. I can never understand her pain, and it’s beyond unacceptable for anyone to have to live through racism and hate. We have to be part of the change to help others #BelowDeck." Another fan wrote, "I'm glad Rayna said what she said. Some people don't want to believe that racism even exists. They don't want to hear it, they want to numb out, put their heads in the sand. Put their fingers in their ears and scream LALALALA #BelowDeck." "My heart breaks for Rayna listening to her talk about the racism shes endured, and attacks from white MEN for simply just excisting in black skin. The fact that POC are still experiencing racism is DISGUSTING. I wish we'd do better as a country. #BelowDeck," commented a fan.
