‘Below Deck’: Fans are convinced Kevin has a problem with 'strong women' after he picks a fight with Rhylee Gerber

The reason behind their squabble will leave you feeling shocked at the chef’s pettiness and his fragile ego.

This season’s charter chef Kevin is easily one of the most annoying cast members on ‘Below Deck’. His fragile ego often gets the better of him, and it doesn’t help that he gets stuck with his “foot in the mouth” most of the time. For starters, while his performance at his job- cooking is mediocre at best, instead of focussing on improving it, he appears to be more concerned about everything else that’s happening with the service team and often ends up butting heads with Kate Chastain, the chief stew.

On the latest episode of ‘Below Deck’ we saw the chef get into a heated argument with the new deckhand Rhylee Gerber. The reason behind their squabble will leave you feeling shocked at the chef’s pettiness and his fragile ego. The crew members went out for dinner, and Rhylee looks at the menu and asks Kevin to help her choose a paleo option from the menu. For some convoluted reason, Kevin takes offense at that and starts bickering with Rhylee saying he is not her personal chef and behaves as if she asked him to go cook for her.

Unfortunately for Rhylee, all the boys- especially her boss and bosun- Ashton Pienaar side with Kevin and start ganging up on her. To Rhylee’s credit, we must admit that she stood her ground and didn’t buckle down under the pressure. After watching this episode, fans felt that Kevin has a oblem with “strong women” like Rhylee and Kate who aren’t afraid of doing things their own way. Although Rhylee might not be the most popular or fan-favorite crew member on the show, almost all fans extended their support to Rhylee in her fight with Kevin.

A fan tweeted, “Kevin literally has a problem. Leave Rhylee alone. You were ordering apps for everyone, she asked you to order something paleo (or however you spell it). What is the big deal??? #BelowDeck I swear he just likes to be a douche to women.”. Another fan wrote, “Chef Kevin hates being challenged, specifically by women. He has such a fragile ego he goes in the defense too quickly and acts like a prick. You’re a chef, you can just tell rhylee something keto to order? STFU and watch out, rhylee is your match #belowdeck”.

“Chef Kevin has issues with women. @rhylee_gerber didn’t ask him to cook a meal, she asked if he would order her something off a menu. I’m with @Kate_Chastain this is embarrassing and I’m waiting for these ladies to put Kevin and these other men in check. #BelowDeck #BravoTV”, wrote a hopeful fan. “Sitting watching #BelowDeck chef Kevin is a dick. Ashton is also being an ASS!! @rhylee_gerber I want to applaud you for standing up for yourself when the men want to talk down to you!! My take is the men on the boat seem to have a problem with a strong women!”, observed a fan.
