Bella Thorne admits to darkening skin and hair to appear 'more Latin' in steamy video: 'I love my Cuban heritage'
Bella Thorne is opening up about the time when she tried different methods to make sure that she looks more Latin. Thorne recently took to Instagram to share a video of herself with darker hair. The television personality can be seen showing off her curves while smiling for the camera.
However, she revealed that there was more to the video than what met the eyes. Thorne revealed that people tend to make certain assumptions about how a Latino person would look while adding that she did not check any of those boxes.
"Being Cuban/Latin in most people’s eyes means having dark eyes, dark hair, and dark skin, I’m naturally blonde I have hazel brown eyes," she wrote. Thorne added that she likes it when her hair is darker and her skin is tanned.
"I try not to go in the sun because skin cancer runs in my family I put an effect on this video, and looking at it I like me looking tan with darker hair," she wrote. Thorne wished that she looked more Latin so she could feel much more deeply rooted in her roots.
"Honestly I wish I looked more Latin so I could feel closer to my father and be prouder of my heritage...to wear my heritage on my skin. it’s just hard sometimes when no one thinks u are who u are...and everyone wants u to be something else :/," she wrote while concluding the post by writing, "I LOVE MY CUBAN HERITAGE."
However, some of the fans explained that the color of the skin or hair did not define a Latino person. "A lot of Cubans are white with blue-green eyes and blonde or dirty blonde hair lmao.. being Latin don’t gotta mean u dark in any way," read one comment. Another added, "You have that Latin sexiness mama."
