'Bachelor in Paradise' 2022: Fans divided as Andrew calls it off with Jessenia after first date with Ency

Andrew responds that Ency had 'good energy' when Jessenia argues that she's astonished he'd go on a date given how down he's been feeling since Rodney left

VALLARTA, MEXICO: Ency Abedin, who was on Clayton Echard's season, arrived this week and soon developed an interest in Andrew Spencer, who stated that the sentiments were reciprocal. The November 14 episode's love triangle has definitely split Bachelor Nation.

When Andrew consented to go on the date, Jessenia was upset, but Andrew regarded the encounter as a possible fresh start. "I think [Jessenia's] a great, amazing girl, but I’m not sure we’re on the same page," Andrew said to the cameras. "Then Ency came down. Felt like a little bit of a kick to the heart. I was like, 'Maybe there’s a little something left in here'... I think there could be something here."

While Andrew and Ency were having a makeout session in the pool, Jessenia complained to the other ladies about Andrew being "closed off and guarded," and when Andrew returned from his date, he decided to call it quits with Jessenia. "You deserve a little bit more than what I've been able to give you," Andrew replied. "It's nothing against you. It's more so I needed to figure kind of something out." Despite the fact that the chat finished with an embrace, Jessenia departed feeling "defeated," telling the cameras, "I really thought that I had a safe space with Andrew."

Picking their favorite for Andrew, a fan wrote, "I like Ency waaaay more for Andrew than Jessenia. I just want him to be happy!" Some fans on the other hand didn't seem happy how Andrew called things off with Jessenia, "Andrew that was the lamest and most half-assed breakup I've seen in a while. Blaming it on Rodney leaving and calling Ency a "fresh start" ... yuck. We all know he could have done better than that if he cared at all." Another fan wrote where Andrew's true loyalty lies, "Andrew has shown more emotion for Rodney than he has for any woman in Paradise!!!" Another disappointed fan wrote, "I am kind of mad at Andrew for not at least talking with Jessenia before going on the date with Ency."

Fans also blamed the edit of the show for not having a full grasp of their relationship, "Jessenia I’m sorry, but we didn’t get to see ANY footage of you and Andrew, so we have no idea what your relationship was like." But some fans are also happy that Andrew has finally found a spark in someone, as they write, "Me seeing Andrew find the spark he’s been looking for." On the other hand, a viewer called him out saying, "This man Andrew said you deserve more than me so I’m gonna go dump my mediocrity onto someone else." Another viewer added, "*andrew pretending to hesitate when he was asked on the date then immediately saying yes with a huge smile*"
