'Bachelor in Paradise' 2022: Kate Gallivan slammed for choosing partner based on capability to afford 'Equinox membership'

VALLARTA, MEXICO: On the November 7 episode of 'Bachelor in Paradise,' Kate Gallivan began to wonder if she truly desired a future with Logan Palmer. Fans took to social media to lambast Kate as she questions her connection with Logan and worries if he'll be a "capable partner."

Although Kate Gallivan didn't feel any sparks ignite during her date with Hayden Markowitz on 'Bachelor in Paradise,' she did enjoy some aspects of him more than Logan Palmer. "I’m feeling a little torn," Kate said in the November 7 episode of the show. "Hayden, on paper, is almost exactly what I’m looking for. He owns a company, he has six figures lying around to devote to his golden retriever. But I carried that date on my back. On the flip side, Logan and I have a very tangible connection. But before the date, I did have a sidebar with Logan, and he wasn’t fighting for me. Even in the least. That’s a problem. I want to be fought for, and I want someone who is going to be vocal, so I’m feeling a little lost," she said.

When Kate returned from her date, she approached Logan and explained how she was feeling. "Last night, when we talked [about me going on the date], you made it seem like it was okay to do this," she stated. "It almost felt like you were kind of aloof and closed off about the whole thing. I don’t expect you to pin me down and tell me I can’t go, but I expected a little more of an opinion. Do you care either way?" Logan stressed that he didn't want to detract from Kate's Paradise experience by preventing her from going on a date. "I just felt like your mind was made up and anything I said that went against that would disappoint you or something," Logan acknowledged. "I didn’t want to do that. I didn’t want to see you go." Logan ultimately proclaimed that he didn't want Kate to be with anybody but him, and she expressed her gratitude.

She was apprehensive when he inquired whether she was feeling the same way. Logan remarked, "That's underwhelming. Why would you make me say all of that if you’re still unsure or undecided? Why would you do that? Let me be aloof and let me not care if you’re not sure yet." Kate defended herself by saying, "I obviously am into you. I pursued you from the jump. So don’t be aloof and act blase about everything and have me try to guess what you’re thinking."

"What I’m thinking is I want you to be mine, so do you feel that way, too!?" Logan said. Kate said yes, and they kissed in the rain. She was "super solid" with Logan by the end of the night. She began to have second thoughts after sleeping on it. "At the end of the day yesterday, I patched things up with Logan and was ready to move forward, and then I woke up this morning and was like….am I?" She was perplexed.

Kate described her hesitation to others on the beach throughout the day. "We’re seven years apart," she stated. "That’s almost a decade. I’m an adult, and he’s a boy." Logan's inability to provide for Kate was one of her main concerns. "He literally can’t afford to work out at Equinox. I have a trainer," Kate grumbled. "Like, you drive an orange Nissan and you can’t afford to work out at Equinox? He’s getting less hot by the second. If I was 24 this would be so fun. I’d ride this thing til the wheels fell off. But, my sister in Christ, I am 33 years old. I don’t have time to figure it out."

Kate noted that she needs "provider energy" in a relationship. "I came here to have a connection and to find something that can translate to the outside world," she stated. "I want to find somebody who’s going to be a capable partner in every aspect of the world. Hayden has several qualities that I think are absolutely non-negotiable — he’s super established, he seems driven, he would take care of me. But, at the end of the day, who do you want to wake up with? Logan and I still have a lot to figure out, so I want Logan to understand what I need and act accordingly."

Although Kate eventually gave Logan her rose, she did so with caution. "There’s definitely something here, but I need more, can you give that to me?" He assured her that he could and took the rose. Logan later stated, "I’m very confused. When you give someone a rose, you tell them why you like them. I just don’t feel that well-liked by Kate."

Bachelor Nation took to Twitter to summarize Kate's dilemma, as they write, “Can you give me more?” -Kate Logan, unaware that Kate hates him cuz he’s poor" Fans also criticized Kate for her way of choosing a life partner, "Kate picking her life partner based on whether they can afford an Equinox membership tells me everything I need to know." The reason to choose Hayden over Logan was pretty clear to viewers as they quip, "Kate hit it off with Hayden’s bank account that’s for sure." Another fan added, "Worst thing Kate has ever done if make me feel SYMPATHY for Logan…. LOGAN."

One viewer even asked, "Why is Kate assuming Hayden has 6 figures just lying around? He could be in crippling credit card debt." Another fan brought back how Kate and Hayden's date went as they write, "Wasn’t Kate just bitching about Hayden on their one on one?" One fan narrowed down her speech to, "Kate’s speech translated: Logan you’re too poor, you can’t afford a $300/month Equinox membership & you live with a roommate. Will you get rich so you can take me on vacation & I can stop pitching myself for Selling Sunset if I give you this rose?" One 'BiP' fan went on to call her a gold digger, "Kate, my sister in Christ, you are a gold-digger."

'Bachelor in Paradise' airs on ABC on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm.
