Avril Lavigne and Tyga call it quits after just four PDA-filled months together but are still 'friendly'

There are reportedly 'no hard feelings' between Avril and Tyga and their decision to call it quits was mutual

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It has been widely speculated that Avril Lavigne and Tyga have split up just four months after making their relationship public. The rapper, 33, and rocker, 38, who first developed a relationship in February 2023 after being spotted together at Nobu Malibu, are rumored to have split "a couple of weeks ago" but are still friendly.

There are "no hard feelings" between Avril and Tyga, according to TMZ, and their decision to call it quits was mutual. Despite making several public displays of affection since beginning their affair, the couple's relationship was just described as having "run its course". 

Why did Avril Lavigne and Tyga split?

According to sources close to Avril and Tyga, they mutually decided to part ways since they both felt that their love affair had run its course. The rumored breakup occurs after Avril finished last month's final show on her 'Love Sux' world tour. Tyga, real name Michael Ray Stevenson, has also been active and is reportedly working on new music. 

Avril had been engaged to rapper Mod Sun before she started dating Tyga. After dating for slightly over a year, the couple got engaged in March 2022. However, they decided to put off the ceremony in February 2023. Avril and Mod Sun had been in an on-and-off relationship for the previous two months, a source had  revealed at the time. "But are no longer together as a couple... there was absolutely no third party involved in the split."

On the other hand, Tyga and Kylie Jenner were in a public relationship from 2014 through 2018. Tyga also has a child with Blac Chyna, who later had a child with Rob Kardashian, Kylie's brother, reports The Sun. Tyga's child with Blac, King Cairo Stevenson, was born on October 16, 2012. The couple began dating in 2011, got engaged in December 2012, and ultimately split up in 2014. Just before Tyga started going out with Kylie, Blac said that he abruptly ejected her and King, who was then two, from his house. Kylie has previously asserted that Tyga downplayed the gravity of his connection with Blac Chyna to her.

'Never even knew they were a couple'

Meanwhile, the Internet is astonished to learn that Avril Lavigne and Tyga were even dating. A fan tweeted, "Never even knew they were a couple." Another fan stated, "I forgot that even happened." "Were they a couple in the first place lol," another tweet read. Some fans were shocked to know they decided to call quits so fast. One user said, "no way, i thought they were definitely gonna make it!" "They were the odd couple out. I hope Avril chooses someone that can be compatible with instead of rappers," advised another fan.
