'Avengers: Endgame' co-star Chris Evans wishes Robert Downey Jr for his birthday by saying 'Love you 3000'

It may be a while before the Avengers assemble to save the world again, and post 'Endgame', while the characters may have gone their separate ways, the actors still remain in touch. The theory was proved when Chris Evans, better known as Steve Rogers/Captain America took to Twitter to wish his co-star Robert Downey Jr. a happy birthday. Downey played Tony Stark/Iron Man in the MCU and the duo has collectively starred in over four movies together.

Evans posted a picture of him and Downey together on the sets of 'Endgame' and captioned it: "Happy birthday to one of my absolute favorites! Love you 3000, @RobertDowneyJr".  'I love you 3000' was a line used by Stark's daughter, Morgan (Alexandra Rabe) in the film. Earlier, fans took to Twitter to wish the star on his birthday. This isn't the first time we have seen Evans and Downey showcase their friendship for each other. Last year, Downey presented Evans with a custom-built 1967 Camaro RS.

The two long-running characters had different ends to their arcs at the end of 'Endgame'. While Stark sacrificed himself by using the Infinity gauntlet to vanquish Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his army, Steve went back to live out his life in the past with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). He passed on his shield and mantle to Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie). The aftermath of 'Endgame' was seen in 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' and the storyline is set to continue with the upcoming Disney+ miniseries, 'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier'.

Currently, both actors have already taken on different roles after the Marvel stints. While Downey played Dr. Dolittle, Evans will be seen in the Apple TV+ crime drama, 'Defending Jacob' playing Andrew Barber, a Massachusetts Assistant District Attorney fighting to save his 14-year-old son accused of murder.

As far as reprising their Marvel roles goes, it remains unclear if both actors will return. Fans still hope that Downey could return in the form of an AI, as the character has in the comics. They will, however, get a chance to see their favorite character as he is set to appear in Scarlett Johansson's standalone movie 'Black Widow' which will release on November 6, 2020.
