‘Are you lying about that too?’ George Santos tweet celebrating Super Bowl LVII sparks storm of gags amid lying scandal
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Republican congressman from New York George Santos put out a tweet on Sunday, February 12, celebrating the Super Bowl, which sparked a barrage of jokes and memes poking fun at him for allegedly fabricating sections of his resume.
Scandal-ridden Santos is accused of faking his resume and lying about his love life, family, educational background, and business background. The lies had progressed to the point where he now faces various criminal probes, threatening his political future. The Republican congressman was forced to resign from his committee responsibilities in the House of Representatives due to a litany of lies.

George Santos and his lies
The Republican legislator admitted that some parts of his resume were exaggerated, but since then, other claims have surfaced, leading some of his supporters to demand his resignation. Meanwhile, some people have made light of Santos' scandal-plagued first month in Congress.
MEAWW earlier reported that the Republican lied about his family background, claiming he is Jewish and that his maternal grandparents fled the Holocaust by relocating to Brazil. His maternal grandparents were Brazilian-born Catholics, it was later established. He also lied about his mother's death, alleging that the 9/11 terrorist attacks "claimed my mother's life."
However, his campaign website revealed that his mother worked in South Tower and was able to evacuate in time before the attack. Santos' mother died of cancer later in life. The New York Rep. had previously gone by a slew of various aliases, including Anthony Devolder, Anthony Zabrovsky, and Kitara Ravache.
In addition, in a recent interview with Newsmax, the lawmaker claimed that he established his business, the Devolder Organization, in 2001, when he would have been 12 or 13. Concerns regarding the finances of his campaign have also been raised.
Why is George Santos being mocked?
Before the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl matchup, the congressman tweeted a prediction. In the comments section, skeptics immediately made jokes in response. Santos' tweet consisted only of an emoji of a football and an ice cream bowl, as reported by Newsweek.
'How many Super Bowl rings did you win again?'
Santos's recent tweet sparked rumors like no other senator, with Elijah Manley, Founder and CEO of @yvfund tweeting, "Are you lying about that too?" Founder of public relations firm Hill Impact, Dan Hill commented, "Must be tough to not be out there. How many Super Bowl rings did you win again? I know it’s more than Brady. Were you dating Rhianna when you wrote We Find Love? Honestly, I shouldn’t be making light of your lies. Resign. Fraud." Representative Eric Swalwell, a California Democrat said, "Does anyone have the set list for George Santos's Super Bowl halftime performance?" A fourth chimed in saying, "Good luck at the game today, Congressman Santos! I understand that you’ll be the first Brazilian-American quarterback to play at the Super Bowl. What an accomplishment! And this comes after you single-handedly won the World Series last year. And the World Cup too. Triple threat!" Another posted, "Tomorrow we’ll get to hear the highlights about how you were the winning quarterback and simultaneously the best receiver." Comic writer Ethan Sacks wrote, "Good luck in the game today! Amazing that you are the starting quarterback for both teams and performing in the halftime show."
