While Roxanne actively tried to build a career, Antonio asserted that he would be her champion if they tied the knot even though he knew it wouldn't be exactly reciprocated. However, Roxanne found a person exactly with the same traits that she had always imagined.

Roxanne Kaiser went to Alex Chapman's house to meet his parents Jennifer and Glenn and celebrate their trial marriage. However, Alex's mother seemed to be highly impressed with Roxanne and her career-focused personality.
Roxanne also had a similar profession as Alex's parents as they both were entrepreneurs too. Additionally, Alex's mother compared Roxanne with Alex's ex-girlfriend Kat Shelton noting that she is not as challenging as Roxanne.
After hanging out with Alex's parents made Roxanne realised that she and Alex are perfect for each other and their trial marriage could actually work out. Alex also seemingly has similar feelings as his mother revealed that Alex had shown some of the caring gestures that he had never done for his ex.

Antonio Mattei was furious when he noticed that Alex Chapman had developed feelings for his girlfriend Roxanne Kaiser. However, when Antonio asks if Roxanne has said anything about him, Alex reveals that she doesn't respect him.
But Antonio couldn't take the criticism well and said in the confessional that Alex just wanted to stain his and Roxanne's relationship. Alex further dubbed Antonio Mattei the 'whipping boy' of Roxanne.
