Body of hero dad pulled from lake weeks after he died saving teen son from drowning
LAKE GARDA, ITALY: The remains of a British father has finally been recovered from an Italian lake weeks after he drowned while saving his son. As per reports, Aran Chada was on a family holiday with 39-year-old partner Holly Mosley, 14-year-old son Roman and daughter Floren, seven, when the tragic incident happened.
When Chada's teenage son reportedly found himself in a difficult situation off the coast of the resort of Limone while enjoying a boat ride with family on Lake Garda, the 51-year-old man dived into the water to save him. Though he managed to bring off Roman back to the safe side, he vanished in the water on July 22 while his family watched in horror.

The man was in Italy to welcome his 52nd birthday but drowned before the celebration. A witness had said at the time: “He managed to get the boy back to the boat, where he was pulled in by his mother. But the man then slipped beneath the surface, perhaps suffering a seizure.”
Though Mosley yelled for help soon after her partner plunged, it took coastguards and specialist diving teams almost four weeks to find the body. On Tuesday evening, August 16, Chada’s remains were discovered 316 meters inside the water body. A specialist underwater robot and sonar equipment reportedly helped the search team in operation and later, it was revealed that the man’s body was nearly 800 meters away from the bank.
Chada was reportedly one of the three people who died on the picturesque lake, whose depth is measured up to 350 meters, that week. Coastguard commander Antonio Ragadale told Mail Online, “It was a complicated and difficult search but we had promised to find his body so his family could be reunited with him. It was the least we could do because he had been so brave in diving into the lake when he saw his son get into trouble.”
“The operation lasted almost a month and we were searching continually day after day for him with a robot and sonar and he was found at a considerable depth, 316 meters which made it a very complex operation. This man was a hero and at last now he can be reunited with his family, we had vowed we would carry on for the sake of them and we have done our duty,” Ragadale noted.
The coastguard also added, as reported by BBC, “Thanks to the professionalism shown in this context and the equipment supplied to them, the volunteers of Lake Garda managed to locate the body of Mr Chada on Tuesday afternoon, 16 August 2022.”
Reports said that Chada, whose family flew back to Leicestershire, will visit Italy again to identify his remains. Earlier, Holly’s brother James had told The Sun, “It's devastating. What my sister and the family is going through is unimaginable.”
According to LinkedIn, Chada was “Group Sales Director at Global Energy Ventures & GRO Oilfield Alliance.” He was an alumnus of Nottingham Trent University as well as Ratcliffe College, Leicestershire.
