'One big united cesspool': Internet holds no hope AOC will be accountable in House Ethics investigation
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is under investigation by The House Ethics Committee, as confirmed by the congressional panel on Wednesday, December 7. The nature of the investigation was not explained. However, two complaints were submitted to the Office of Congressional Ethics over AOC's attendance at last year’s Met Gala. Known for pulling off stunts, she rocked a designer-made dress embellished with the words, "Tax the Rich." However, there was another complaint filed and the Committee has not clarified the reason for the investigation.
The eight-member committee, while keeping the details under wrap, explained that "the Acting Chairwoman and Acting Ranking Member of the Committee on Ethics have jointly decided to extend the matter regarding Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, which was transmitted to the Committee by the Office of Congressional Ethics on June 23, 2022." The complaints submitted on June 23 claim that AOC broke House rules by accepting free tickets to the event. The statement read, "The Committee notes that the mere fact of a referral or an extension, and the mandatory disclosure of such an extension and the name of the subject of the matter, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee."
