Both Messi and Roccuzzo hail from Rosario. They have been friends since they were 5 years old. She was a friend of Messi's cousin, and despite his introverted nature, the forward striker frequently visited her home to meet her.
Roccuzzo is a fashion designer and model by profession. She chose to pursue dentistry as her post-graduate study after completing her bachelor's degree in humanities and social sciences, but she ultimately decided to drop out so she could stay close to Messi, who was living in Barcelona. In 2016, she signed a modeling contract with fashion designer Ricky Sarkany and co-founded a store with her friend Sofia Balbi, the wife of Messi's former Barca teammate Luis Suarez.
Roccuzzo is quite the celebrity herself as she has a huge fan following of 22 million on Instagram, where she posts pictures of her opulent European vacations, posing in swimsuits next to her husband and their three children. Messi got married to his childhood sweetheart in their hometown of Rosario back in 2017. Their wedding celebration was termed 'the wedding of the century' in Argentina. The celebration was attended by many of Messi's old teammates, including Luis Suarez, and Neymar, Gerard Pique and his wife Shakira. Roccuzzo wore a star-studded bridal gown by Spanish designer Rosa Clara.
