Ant McPartlin and Lisa Armstrong have been granted a divorce. It was given on grounds that the TV presenter had committed adultery and had becime intolerable to live with.
Ant McPartlin and Lisa Armstrong were granted a divorce on the grounds of his adultery. The ex-couple had been married for 11 years and had tied the knot back in the year 2006 but ended up getting divorced.
As reported by Mirror, the divorce was granted by judge Alun Jenkins at the Central Family Court in London in a hearing which lasted barely 30 seconds. According to the documents, Lisa had filed for divorce as Ant had become "intolerable to live with" and the papers revealed that the marriage had "broken down irretrievably". The divorce will be finalized in a matter of six weeks if no objections are formally made.
42-year-old Ant confirmed the split earlier this year in January and shared that he and Lisa were going to be splitting up after months of speculation about their relationship and marriage. It was later revealed that Ant was having a fling with his and Lisa's PA Anne-Marie.
At the time, a representative said, "In response to the recent speculation in the media, Ant is very sad to announce that, after eleven years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin. Ant asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families. No further statement will be made".
The former couple had met when they were at a roadshow in Newcastle during the mid-1990s when Lisa was aspiring to be a pop star in Deuce. Ant has been vocal about the pair's struggle to have children. Ant had to visit rehab last year after he battled with a two-year long addiction to super-strength painkillers which he got hooked on to after he had a knee operation in the year 2015.
In the month of April, Ant was banned from the road for around 20 months and also fined a whopping £86,000 for driving while more than twice above the legal drinking limit. He also announced that he would be taking a break from his TV commitments and will not be appearing on the next series of 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!'. Anne is currently seeing his ex-PA Anne-Marie Corbett and it looks as though the pair is very happy together.
