Anne Heche's son Homer Laffoon found uncashed checks worth $34K after his mother's death
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Anne Heche's son has discovered a series of uncashed residual checks worth five figures following her death. The detail was revealed after the late actress' oldest son Homer Laffoon provided a partial list of her estate as he is the one in charge of it.
Heche's left-behind checks were reportedly found when Homer was carefully searching through her home. The payments are from big production companies such as Disney, NBC, GEP Talent Services, Paramount Pictures, and various other entities, as per RadarOnline. The largest uncashed check to Heche was from Cast & Crew Production Services for $25,000. The payment was issued on June 10, 2022, weeks before Anne died after smashing her car into a Los Angeles residence — a collision that resulted in a fire. In addition to the residual checks, Heche has also left behind a bank account with Merrill Lynch that holds $76,000.

Messy legal battle over Heche's estate
The 'Spread' actress did not leave a will, ultimately leading her family toward a messy battle over her estate. Homer, who previously provided a preliminary report on her estate, said that she left behind a few “modest” bank accounts, personal property of “modest value” and an interest in her forthcoming memoir. The estate has two beneficiaries: Homer whom she shared with then-husband Coleman Laffoon and his younger brother Atlas whom she had with her ex-husband, James Tupper.
Following Heche’s death, Homer filed for control over his mother’s estate. To which Tupper objected, claiming that the ‘Volcano’ actress had mailed him a will while they were together which named him administrator of the estate. The former couple was together for over a decade before ending things in 2018. Homer insisted that the will is invalid as it was not officially signed by his mother.
How much is Heche's estate worth?
Contradicting Homer’s claims, Tupper believed that Heche’s estate was worth $1.6 million. To back up his claims, he pointed to the late actress' assets which included a life insurance policy with SAG, her jewelry collection which he believed to be worth $200k, a custom car collection worth $600,000, $100,000 in her bank accounts, future residuals, $125,000 in property and a few other. The court sided with Homer and shut down Tupper's pleas. The controversies around Heche's estate do not cease as it is a $2 million lawsuit and the case is still ongoing.
