'We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people': Anheuser-Busch executive Brendan Whitworth apologizes amid Dylan Mulvaney backlash
ST LOUIS, MISSOURI: Amid Bud Light’s growing controversy, Anheuser-Busch’s top executive has offered an apology. The company finally broke its silence after receiving massive criticism for roping in controversial transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. “We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people. We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer,” Brendan Whitworth, Anheuser-Busch InBev CEO said.
Interestingly, Whitworth’s statement didn’t talk about the partnership deal with Mulvaney, which was the reason behind the country-wide appeal for its boycott. There was also no mention of keeping senior executives uninformed about the Mulvaney deal. The top executive instead chose to assure its customers that he was “focused on building and protecting our remarkable history and heritage.” Adding, “Moving forward, I will continue to work tirelessly to bring great beers to consumers across our nation,” he added, according to the New York Post.

'Just someone who wants a lot of attention'
On Tuesday, Joe Rogen commented on the ongoing controversy during his podcast where he said, “Here's my take. What they're doing is just spreading the brand to an extra group of people. Why, if something is good, do you give a f*** who's got it?" He told his guest comedian, Sam Tallent, “The thing is about this Dylan Mulvaney thing is like, it’s just someone who wants a lot of attention and you’ve given someone a lot of attention and you’re trying to reach someone from another audience.
'I think that person’s [Mulvaney] goofy'
Rogan further said. “I saw it and was like ‘What the f**k is this?’ was my initial reaction. It’s like this is silly. But it’s also, your typical Bud Light fan is NASCAR or sports like that’s most of the people are drinking Bud Light.” He concluded, “How is that the big deal?” “I think it’s goofy because I think that person’s [Mulvaney] goofy,” Rogan said. “But if you want to hire a goofy person, who gives a s***? It’s kinda hilarious when somebody says ‘365 days of womanhood.' It’s also just a can with that person’s face on it. That’s all that was. It wasn’t like the stuff they were selling."
