Angelina Jolie worried about vulnerable children as she remains 'locked in' with her kids amid pandemic
Parents are finding it difficult to keep their children entertained and occupied as a majority of the world remains on lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.
For Angelina Jolie, it is no different and is probably more difficult given she has six children. Jolie is on lockdown with her children, she shares with Brad Pitt at her Los Feliz CA estate. The 44-year-old actress had participated in Time 100 Talks virtual event series where she had shared an update on her family.
During her virtual appearance, she shared, "We’re all locked in. We’re doing all right." Jolie shares her six children - 18-year-old Maddox, 16-year-old Pax, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 13, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 11, with ex-husband Pitt.
In the discussion, Jolie also said that "This is really a frightening time" globally. She highlighted this as "a time for outrage" saying that children should never be as "vulnerable" as they are given the present circumstances. However, she did applaud all those who have stepped up in the process.
"I believe in humanity. I have hope. And I think we really can’t afford not to have hope," the 'Maleficent' star revealed. "I think when people are aware, and if they can have a path forward guiding them with how to help and what to do, they will."
She had also spoken about her humanitarian work and just how much it has taught her. "I spend so many years working with refugees around the world. Honestly, of course, it’s upsetting, but they’ve also taught me so much about resilience, about family, about what life is truly about."
"I’ve seen people overcome insurmountable odds with so much grace and love. I believe in humanity, I have hope, I really think we can afford not to have hope. As long as people are aware of how to help and what to do, they will," she shared.
The 'Mr & Mrs Smith' star also addressed reports that there has been a rise in domestic violence situations given everyone is cooped up at home. Victims of domestic violence are in lockdown with their abusers. "We know domestic violence is on the rise across the world because we're hearing horrible reports," she said.
"So, within the home can be the most dangerous in the world for many people," she continued.
In March, a source confirmed that Maddox had returned from college in South Korea as the virus continued to spread. "Maddox is home from school and focusing on his Korean and Russian studies until school reopens," a source said at the time, US Weekly reports.
"Angelina has the other children on a routine by waking them up early every day and getting them started on their school tasks shortly afterward," the insider added. While speaking to DongA Daily earlier this month, Jolie had said that she could not be happier about Maddox's choice of university.
She shared that her son would resume classes at Yonsei University when possible. "I could not be happier about Mad’s choice of university. It is, of course, closed at the moment because of the pandemic. But he’s not transferring schools. He’ll be going back as soon as things settle."
Hollywood Life reports that Pitt is also is closer than ever to his kids and is continuing to see them during the shutdown. “They are still spending lots of quality time with him, actually more than they have in a long time because they are all staying put," a source revealed.
