Andy Cohen thinks Meghan Markle as 'Real Housewife of Montecito' would be interesting, but Internet says 'hard pass'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'Watch What Happens Live' anchor Andy Cohen is well aware of the 'Real Housewives' character he most admires, and the anchor is eager to cast a specific royal in the popular Bravo reality series.
During a BravoCon 2023 panel, the king of Bravo expressed his interest in casting the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, for a brand-new 'Real Housewives' spinoff.
When asked if he was thinking about adding cities to the franchise in the future, Cohen simply gave a name. "If we can get Meghan Markle, that would be interesting," he remarked, according to the New York Post.

Why did Andy Cohen mention Meghan Markle as his 'interesting' choice?
Cohen's allusion to the royal couple Meghan, 42, and her husband Prince Harry, 39, comes as they relocate to a more tranquil neighborhood in Santa Barbara.
Following their expulsion from the royal family earlier in 2020, Meghan and Harry moved into a $14 million property in Montecito, California, which has nine bedrooms.
There are currently 11 'Housewives' franchises in the United States, including ones in Salt Lake City, Beverly Hills, New York City, New Jersey, and Orange County. The Bravo hit reality series has been adapted into 21 other countries.
Given that the former actress has reportedly been considering a comeback to Hollywood in recent months, it wouldn't be shocking if she accepted Cohen's offer and perhaps gave rise to a spin-off of 'Real Housewives of Montecito'.
Cohen definitely has an affinity for the Duchess of Sussex. He was not only a guest on her Spotify podcast 'Archetypes', but he also defended her against claims that Meghan recorded voiceovers to give the impression that she was present during the interviews.
It was also revealed during their discussion on 'Archetypes' that Meghan was almost cast on 'Watch What Happens Live', another Bravo program, but the casting producers finally turned down the former 'Suits' star.
Cohen referred to this action as the "biggest blunder in the 13 years of the show."
Cohen has made a valiant effort to acquire big names for the reality series, including The Duchess.
Page Six previously revealed that Cohen's wishlist included Ayda Field Williams, Julia Fox, Chrissy Teigen, Vanessa Bryant, and Jana Kramer as additional celebrities he considered ideal candidates for the 'Housewives' position.
Netizens disagree with 'WWHL' host
Following Cohen's admission of casting the Duchess of Sussex as one of the potential 'Housewives', internet users took to social media to express their disagreement.
One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, "No it wouldn’t. I would never watch any of the real housewives shows ever again."
While one user opined, "No. No, it wouldn't be," another shared the sentiment and added, "Hard pass."
Another one chimed in, "No, most people want less of Meghan and her spouse."
"Because nothing makes "real house wife" like a real life princess," added another one.
One more explained, "No...it'll only make her more of a target for ridicule, even less sympathetic...if that's even possible. they need to move to Montana and raise a crop of dental floss."
"She would become an even bigger joke," agreed another one.
