In a radio interview on Thursday, April 30, Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) made it clear that he was single and ready to mingle after a matchmaking survey said that he and his brother were the most sought-after men in New York.

While discussing the cleaning of NYC's subway system with 1010 WINS, radio host Susan Richard asked the governor to weigh in on the survey conducted by matchmaker Maureen Tara Nelson that was published in the New York Daily News on Wednesday.

"Well Susan, I did not see that, but now that you raise that, most wanted eligibility, my brother is married, I am not married, so I don't think he would qualify as eligible-- however I am eligible," Cuomo said.

Not wasting any time, Richard took the opportunity to make a pitch for herself as a potential candidate. "Well, I just want to say we are both single Sagitarians from Queens. I'm just saying, I'm just putting it out there," she said, to which Cuomo replied with a laugh, "Sounds good to me. It all started in Queens."

The survey in question, taken by more than 2000 female participants, showed that the New York ladies would prefer having relationships with the Sicilian siblings more than even heartthrob pop music superstars the Jonas brothers.

“The Cuomo brothers won in a tie for the most handsome men in New York, a contest that I survey my clients every year to know what women are looking for,” Nelson told the Daily News. “In my 19 years of matchmaking, and every year I have done this particular survey, I have never had a tie."

Nelson said that one of the reasons behind the sudden popularity of the Cuomo brothers could be because of their increased visibility on television, stemming from coverage of COVID-19. Since most of the women who participated in the survey were under lockdown, it made sense that they voted for the pair who popped up on a daily basis on their TV screens.

The participants also did not care that Chris was happily married to his wife Christina Greeven because they found him “hot."

“Women in quarantine are setting their standards very high, but I think under these stressful circumstances, women want a strong ‘take-charge’ kind of guy, like the governor and someone who can live in a basement for three weeks and still look buff," Nelson said.

Andrew, on the other hand, was chosen by the women because of the mental strength that enabled him to handle the health crisis to the best of his ability in a state that has the highest number of fatalities in the country. Since mid-March, Andrew has been holding daily press briefings and even graced the cover of April’s Rolling Stone magazine.

“Andrew Cuomo won the contest as my lady clients found him to be a ‘strong handsome,’ as they put it,” Nelson shared. “Right now...the daily press updates make [him] more visible and the ladies are eating up how he runs his briefings adding in personal information about himself. In fact, the banter between the Cuomo brothers is something all of my ladies are talking about.”

The governor was married to Kerry Kennedy from 1990 to 2005 and was in a 14-year relationship with famous foodie Sandra Lee before parting ways.
