Andie MacDowell, daughters caught sneaking out of closed LA park during lockdown
Actress Andie MacDowell was photographed with her daughters Rainey and Margaret Qualley reportedly sneaking out of a park in Los Angeles which has been closed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Entrance gate closed at 5 pm," read a big red sign on the iron gate at the Audubon Center in Debs Park read as the actresses were pictured sneaking out under the barricade, Page Six reports.
According to the report, the trio appeared to be coming from a hike and was casually dressed.
As the 61-year-old actress made her way under the gate, she had the family's small dog on a leash. Meanwhile, Margaret, 25, and Rainey, 30, followed behind their mother.
The Audubon Center and its trails have been temporarily closed until April 20, according to the park's website.
“Our team at the Audubon Center at Debs Park has been monitoring the situation surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19) in Los Angeles County,” a statement posted on March 13 read. “In the spirit of being good community members, the Audubon Center at Debs Park is taking steps to limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) across the communities we serve.”
Speaking to Page Six, Center director Marcos Trinidad confirmed that the Audubon Center, as well as the trails within the 282-acre Ernest E Debs Park, were closed in compliance with "safer at home" orders issued by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
However, Trinidad told the outlet in response to the alleged trespassing that "no one from the Audubon encountered them and we will not penalize them."
Meanwhile, the park's communication manager Jason Howe welcomed MacDowell and her family back at the park "when it's safe to do so."
“[MacDowell] and her family are more than welcome to visit us when we’re open again," Howe said. "We think Debs Park is a beautiful place, and we’d love to show her around when it’s safe to do so.”
The 'Groundhog Day' actress recently shared a recipe for a healthy meal from her kitchen.
'Just sharing. Miss people, want to hug people so bad,” she commented on her Instagram story.
That said, MacDowell appeared to deny claims that her family had visited Debs Park over the weekend.
“Both my girls are in Montana. They are not in LA," she wrote on Instagram on April 21.
Last month, the 'Green Card' star revealed that she has "felt responsible" all her life as she started looking after her alcoholic mother since she was just 10 years old.
MacDowell revealed that she always had a 'great relationship' with her mother, Paula Johnson, but had to take care of her from a very young age. While living in Gaffney, South Carolina, the actress said she went around at night checking to make sure that her mother had not left any cigarettes burning.
She added that there were many burn marks on the floor as well as on the couch and it was a miracle that the house had not burned down.
"I think I've felt responsible all my life. But I'm good at it. I've been in training for a long time," MacDowell shared.
