Plot
Season 12 of 'American Ninja Warrior' features some big changes to the show format as compared to the earlier seasons. For starters, as compared to the previous seasons, which had over 15-16 episodes each season, the upcoming season will have only eight episodes. Generally, the show tours across major cities in the USA to find ninjas, and there is a regional level competition and a finale. But Season 12 won't be having any such tours, since all eight episodes were filmed in St Louis, MO inside the Dome at America’s Center. The pool of ninjas too has been cut down from 600 to 150. According to the show's press release, "The series will feature an abridged format with multiple rounds: Qualifiers (6 obstacle course), Semi-Finals (10 obstacle course) and Finals (10 obstacle course + Power Tower playoff bracket). To determine the winner during the Finals, the top eight ninjas will compete in a playoff bracket where they will race head-to-head on the Power Tower. The winner will earn $100,000."
Hosts
The show will be hosted by the previous season's hosts, Akbar Gbajabiamila and Matt Iseman. Akbar Gbajabiamila is a former player of the National Football League (NFL), and currently serves as the co-host for 'American Ninja Warrior.' He also works as a sports analyst for the NFL Network. Gbajabiamila also co-hosts 'Team Ninja Warrior' alongside Iseman, which is a spin-off of 'American Ninja Warrior' that debuted on Esquire Network in 2016. Matt Iseman is a comedian, actor, and television host who began his career as a physician, before becoming the first (and only) winner of 'The New Celebrity Apprentice' in early 2017.
