Scarlet was one of the contestants who got into the top 24 last week and had to battle it out in the latest episode of ‘American Idol’ Season 20 to grab a spot on the coveted top 20 list. The young crooner sang ‘Levitating’ by Dua Lipa which quickly got the live audience into a dancing mood. Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan too thoroughly enjoyed the performance with Katy quickly getting up from her seat and grooving to her set.

However, that did not stop the judges from pointing out her negatives as they singled out her shaky notes. Speaking of her performance, Lionel Richie stated, “I realize now the crowd is what was missing the entire time” adding, "When you bring a crowd in, you felt confident on that stage." He also said that she could handle the pressure well and knew what the entertainment factor was. Katy, on the other hand, asserted, “You've got a lot of good things going for you girl”, adding that she picked a great song but she missed her voice in the beginning. Luke Bryan too chimed in, “You started a little weird with that first note you hit, but you got a fan out of me” later dubbing her set as “great performance.”

‘Scarlet can sing but this song is a mess’

Social media users shared a mixed bag of reactions to Scarlet’s performance on the singing reality show. “Scarlet is a natural performer. Not a fan of her song choice but she did good. She also got some moves”, said one user as another posted, “OMGOD SCARLET KILLED THAT S**T”. One shared, “Scarlet she does better with a crowd than with just the judges a good performance.”

The next one added, “Yup Luke Bryan, too many "weird notes". Scarlet can sing but those "weird notes" overshadowed her singing. She's in trouble.” Meanwhile, an individual tweeted, “Scarlet, I wish you chose a different song. Lot of talent, but song choice might hurt her here.” One user said, “Oh this is a mess.  Scarlet can sing but this song is a mess.” Another asserted, “The song choices have been terrible so far. Scarlet should have chose better.” While, one user said, “Scarlet off at the top but keeps up the energy and finds the groove. That upper range is crazy and she smolders in places. Very pop friendly vocal with teeth. Her confidence is infectious too.” And, another concluded, “She hurts my ears.”
