'American Idol’ Top 24: Katy praises Danielle Finn, but fans say she 'butchered the tune'

Danielle Fin might have not faced a lot of trouble in Hollywood week as she easily made it to the coveted list of top 24 but her road to the top 20 might get a bit difficult after her latest performance on ‘Your Song’ by Elton John got negative reviews from the Internet. The 17-year-old crooner got a standing ovation from Katy Perry but that did not stop her to suggest some helpful pointers to the young singer.
 
Speaking about Danielle’s set, Perry asserted that the teen singer had a really jazzy voice and that she sang with her own unique voice. However, the pop princess felt that Danielle was still nervous on stage. Luke Bryan, on the other hand, asked her to open up a little more when she performs. Lionel Richie too chimed in to share his valuable opinion. The iconic singer asked Danielle to enjoy her performance and just relax. Season 10 Idol alum Jimmie Allen was seen in the latest episode serving as a mentor to the contestants. For the top 20, the audience sitting at home will vote for the deserving singers sending them to the next round.

‘Danielle was HORRIBLE!! Period’

A majority of social media users felt Danielle’s performance was boring and horrible. “Danielle is boring. Next”, said one user as another posted, “WTF are they even talking about Danielle executed that flawlessly meanwhile Scarlett was pitchy af and Katy was up her a**.” The next one shared, “Danielle was HORRIBLE!! Period!” Another stated, “Danielle started out good but, for me, she butchered the tune.” Meanwhile, one tweeted, “Danielle is killing it, but not in a good way!”  And, another concluded, “Danielle Finn. I felt those first lyrics. Her vibrato is on full display in this one. I don’t mind except with the pitch wavers. She was singing for her life but… lotta great ppl up there.”

‘American Idol' Season 20 airs every Sunday at 8/7c on ABC.
