Country singers are a common sight on ‘American Idol’ and the same happened when a country musician named Mark Osborne landed on the auditions of Season 20 of the singing reality show. The 26-year-old crooner from Vinton, Virginia performed his rendition of ‘Stone’ which is originally a hit single by a country-rock group called Whiskey Myers.

Mark seemed a bit nervous while strumming his guitar but he eventually managed to pull off his audition. The skilled crooner revealed that he only ended up in the audition for the sake of his mother who on her birthday wanted the same. The trio seemed pretty impressed with Mark’s performance as Katy Perry praised him for his authenticity. Luke Bryan, on the other hand, stated that he liked his approach and on similar lines, Lionel Richie said that he loved Mark’s attitude. Richie even joked about Mark rocking a mustache saying “stache brings the cash”. The trio then unanimously agreed to send him to Hollywood by giving him the coveted golden ticket.

Social media users too seemed elated with Mark sailing through the auditions with ease. “Mark Osborne could win it all. It’s very similar to Chayce Beckham. The only problem is the judges love to make a guy like that jump through hoops and push his vocal unnecessarily when it’s not needed”, said one user as another chimed in “Mark definitely has a authentic sound!!” One individual asserted, “I love Mark Osborne’s authenticity. I have a feeling he’s going to make it far in the competition.”

The next one shared, “Mark Osborne, good storytelling, like his gruff and a certain seriousness to his approach. He is living this, out up there.” Whereas, one added, “A def yes first time hearing texturing in country music category innovative, naturality, improvisation that provides a space based on individuality.” And, one concluded, “Okay... goosebumps for the 3rd time tonight when he hit certain notes.  Luv his voice - both speaking and singing!  Bravo and Congrats Mark!!”
