'American Idol 20': Who is Mark Osborne? Country singer auditioned only for his mother
‘American Idol’ season 20 has hyped the loyal fans ever since it returned on ABC network on February 27. This is the fifth time when the singing reality show has been aired on the network with judges namely Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. The popular show was earlier aired on Fox for whopping 15 seasons. Apart from the usual golden ticket, the latest has also introduced a platinum ticket that allows its winner to skip the first day of the Hollywood week.
With two episodes down, contestants namely HunterGirl and Kenedi Anderson have already bagged the platinum tickets. It will be interesting to see who will earn the next in the coming episode that is all set to air on Sunday, March 13. Singers namely Ryleigh Madison, Sam Finelli, Cadence Baker, D3vine, and others are expected to appear in front of the judges with an intention to move to the next round. Who is Mark Osborne?
Mark Osborne made a blink and miss appearance at the end of episode two dropping a hint of what is going to go down in episode three. If you are wondering, who is he, Mark is a musician who hails from Vinton, Virginia. He doesn’t seem to enjoy social media as he barely shares posts on Instagram and Twitter. However, he did post pictures on the photo-sharing app when he went for the live audition. Mark Osborne earlier used to play in an Americana/Blues band called the Smokehouse Crickets and he now seems to pursue his musical dreams all solo. He identifies himself as a “Country/Blues Musician” as revealed by his bio on Instagram.
In the latest promo of ‘American Idol’ season 20, we get to see Mark interacting with the judges as he claims, “You know this is nerve wracking!”. He also spilled the beans on why he auditioned on the show stating, “My mom asked me to do it for her birthday and you can't turn your mom down when she asks you to audition for American Idol on her birthday.” Mark Osborne on Instagram had recently shared when he went for the live auditions. Whilst sharing a masked selfie, he captioned the post, “I guess it's time to share the news OFFICIALLY. This guy auditioned for the 20th season of @americanidol thanks to some encouragement from his momma! Did I get a golden ticket? Tune in February 27th on ABC to find out!”
The third episode of ‘American Idol’ season 20 will air on ABC at 8 pm ET. The show is expected to air a total of18 episodes and might wrap up in late May. The auditions for the new season were held in Los Angeles, Austin, and Nashville. Online auditions too happened with virtual sessions.
