Amber Heard rubbishes 'paid rumors' saying she's out of 'Aquaman 2', Internet thinks 'she's gaslighting as always'

Amber Heard revealed that she is 'so excited' for 'Aquaman 2'. The 34-year-old actress rubbished all rumors that suggested that she won't be returning to her role as Mera for the second film. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she said that she is ready and is gearing up for filming part 2 of the movie. Her comments come after months of unconfirmed rumors that she wont be reprising her role in the superhero film.

She said, "I'm super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that 'Aquaman' has acquired and that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we'll be coming back. I'm so excited to film that." She revealed that the production plans will be starting around 2021 but nothing has been confirmed due to the ongoing pandemic. The film has not yet been officially approved and currently, there is not a cast or start date attached.

Heard's news comes after many in the media had pointed out how the 'Aquaman' rumors had started as her ex Johnny Depp's libel suit against The Sun had intensified. While speaking of the rumors, Heard said, "Paid rumors and paid campaigns on social media don't dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality. Only the fans actually made 'Aquaman' and 'Aquaman 2' happen. I'm excited to get started next year," she added.

Many social media users commented on the news with fans left divided. One such user shared, "It's a two way street, they both abused each other but of course amber gets to get off free." Another wrote, "Some of y'all don't even know the full story and are just bandwagoning lmao. Doesn'tt matter, ima watch it with or without her." "She's just doing what she always does. Gas lighting the media for sympathy and trying to make us look stupid and demented. That's what abusers do," said yet another user.

Others who supported her wrote, "If you're mad about this and want Depp to return for FB3 you're part of the problem bc Depp is an abuser too." Another shared, "Amber Heard is far more beautiful and the perfect Queen Mera."

In a 2018 piece she wrote for the Washington Post, Heard had shared, "Friends and advisers told me I would never again work as an actress — that I would be blacklisted. A movie I was attached to recast my role. I had just shot a two-year campaign as the face of a global fashion brand, and the company dropped me." Depp has lost his libel claims against the publishers of The Sun over an article that branded him as a 'wife-beater'. According to Judge Justice Nicol, the tabloid had been justified in reporting that Depp had been violent towards his former wife Amber Heard on at least one occasion during their relationship.

Depp has always maintained that he was never violent towards Heard in any way. His fans have launched a petition demanding Amber Heard’s removal from ‘Aquaman 2’. The petition called ‘Remove Amber Heard From Aquaman 2’ has been started on Change.org and 1,003,253 people have signed it at the time of writing. The petition has made several allegations against Heard as it wrote the 34-year-old actress “has been exposed as a domestic abuser by Johnny Depp. In his $50 million lawsuit, Johnny Depp describes many incidents of domestic abuse that he suffered at the hands of his (then) wife Amber Heard, including one incident where she punched him twice in the face and another where she shattered his finger with a vodka bottle, and his finger had to be surgically reattached.”
