Amber Heard's texts to Elon Musk exposed: She called him her 'Rocketman' while still married to Johnny Depp

Last week, Elon Musk claimed he was never in the vicinity of Heard before her split with Johnny Depp but texts reveal they were in regular contact

While Amber Heard was still married to Johnny Depp, she texted the SpaceX billionaire, Elon Musk, whom she called her 'Rocketman', informing him that she was splitting with her then-husband.

The messages as reviewed by Mirror were sent by the 'Aquaman' actress to Musk on May 22, 2016 — a day before she filed for divorce against Depp. In one of the messages, the Tesla owner offered “to engage 24/7 security” because she had “talked about J being violent in the past”. The concern for the actress' safety stemmed from the fact that Heard had alleged the 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' actor abused her during her marriage — a claim that has been vehemently denied by Depp and also forms the basis of his $50 million lawsuit against his ex-wife who penned an op-ed in which she stated, without taking names, that she was a victim of abuse.

It's clear from the exchange that Musk was hoping to be more than just friends with Heard as he texted her "I really like you." It also seemed like the pair got into a fight before the text messages were exchanged as Heard told Musk, "for such a smart man... I would think you wouldn't need to investigate any further than your last text to me before such radio silence commenced..." Musk responded, "well, I'm just glad you're ok. You talked about J being violent in the past and still having keys to the apartment, so I thought something might have happened," as he alluded to an altercation the actress had with Depp.

When offering her the protection of security, Musk urged her to keep it "utterly confidential."

"Anyway, sorry for being an idiot. The radio silence hurt a lot. It only matters because I really like you," Musk texted Heard, as he told her to disregard the unknown reason he and the actress had a misunderstanding prior to sending the messages. "And the offer would stand even if you never wanted to see me again," he wrote. In the end, the two agreed to engage in a phone call and stop texting.

The texts have been passed to Depp's legal team as part of the case. Heard had saved the number of Musk under the name 'Rocketman' a reference to his SpaceX rocket program.  On being offered security, she said that she was filing for divorce and a restraining order against Depp.

The date on which the texts were sent also refuted Musk's previous claim that he started dating Heard only a month after Heard filed for divorce. "Amber and I only started going out about a month after her divorce filing on May 23, 2016. I don't think I was ever even in the vicinity of Amber during their marriage," Musk told Page Six last week. Depp's legal team said that they "profoundly contradict" Musk's timeline of events after the emergence of the 'Rocketman' texts.

The actor's lawyer Adam Waldman said: "Last week, Elon Musk publicly claimed his relationship with Amber Heard did not start until late June 2016, a date that was conveniently later than the May execution of Ms Heard's abuse hoax in which she claimed that Mr Depp threw a phone into her face and further beat her. These messages between Ms Heard and Mr Musk profoundly contradict Musk’s statement that he wasn’t 'ever in the vicinity of Amber during their marriage.'"

We previously reported that Heard's romantic involvement with Musk became public in 2016, after she filed a restraining order against Depp — leading many to believe that she might have cheated on her former husband during their short-lived marriage. In a November 2017 interview with Rolling Stone, Musk said he had split with Heard, although it sounded like he was not entirely over her yet.  "I just broke up with my girlfriend," Musk said. "I was really in love, and it hurt bad. If I'm not in love, if I'm not with a long-term companion, I cannot be happy."

"Going to sleep alone kills me,” he added. “It’s not like I don’t know what that feels like: Being in a big empty house, and the footsteps echoing through the hallway, no one there — and no one on the pillow next to you. F—. How do you make yourself happy in a situation like that?” It was reported at the time that the duo first broke up because of their increasingly busy schedules in August.

A few days later, TMZ snapped pictures of the two kissing after getting lunch in Los Angeles. A source close to Musk said that they weren't back together but it's a possibility that they would soon. However, after briefly reuniting for a few months, the pair called it quits for the second time, in February 2018. “Elon decided it was time to end it and Amber agreed. They both still care deeply for each other but the timing wasn’t right,” a source close to the couple told People magazine.
