Amazon's 'Undone' has made a must-watch impression already. Using the rotoscope animation tech, the drama teaches viewers a valuable lesson on mental illness and family relationships. Coming from the creators of 'BoJack Horseman', Raphael Bob-Waksberg and Kate Purdy, the show packs a punch with its stunning visuals and elaborate storyline.

Purdy, in an interview with MEA WorldWide (MEAWW), outlined what viewers could expect from 'Undone'. "What we are exploring in the show is perceptions of reality and what is a reality," she said.

"Do we ever know the truth or what? It's sort of a visual trick, it's live-action and it is also animated. And it's a tinted space that invites you instead of an imaginary place, it makes you feel more grounded and real at the same time."

She added, "The material is stretchy but it feels grounded and real at the same time".

The series official logline reads: "Undone explores the elastic nature of reality through its central character, Alma. After getting into a near-fatal car accident, Alma discovers she has a new relationship with time and uses this ability to find out the truth about her father’s death."

Simply put, Alma (Rosa Salazar) has the ability to get unstuck in time. You can watch the interview with the stars of 'Undone' here:

When asked how the audience can perceive the show, Bob-Waksberg explained that it was left to the viewers. "I think audiences should take it however they want to take it  One of the fun things about the show is it's very much open to interpretation". In addition, he said that the series could be viewed literally or allegorically. "You can view it as a sci-fi story or a story about mental health. It’s very much open to interpretation."

Salazar said she was on board immediately. "The writing was just genius work", she said. The actor, a self-confessed 'A Scanner Darkly' and 'Waking Life' fan met with Purdy and Bob-Waksberg who explained the genesis of the story, and from there, it was just a matter of getting things done.

"I was a rotoscope animation fan," Salazar pointed out. " I knew about a lot of the processes and when they said it was going to be done on TV, I knew it was the first time it was going to happen," she added.

'Undone' premieres on September 13, 2019, on Amazon Prime Video.
