Amal Clooney's sister, Tala Alamuddin Le Tallec, has been jailed for three weeks and fined for drunk driving in Singapore.

The 47-year-old fashion designer, a permanent resident of Singapore, pleaded guilty on Monday to driving offenses which involved drunk-driving, using a car without a Singapore Class 3 driving license and driving without insurance. Tallec has also been made to pay a fine of $6,400 (£3,640). In addition to this, she has also been disqualified from driving for four years after her release from from prison.

At the time of the incident on May 13, Tallec had been driving her husband's BMW X5. As reported by the Straits Times, he could also be liable for the offences given that he is the owner of the car.

Prior to her arrest, Tallec was at a restaurant with a friend on Dempsey Road and the two had enjoyed two glasses of wine as well as a glass of champagne.

Tallec was driving home with the friend at around 2:30 am when she was stopped by the police along Holland Road. The Staff Sgt. Alvin Lee observed how Tallec was unable to locate the vehicle's handbrake properly and reeked of alcohol. While she was reaching for her bag which was in the back seat of the car, she reportedly stepped on the accelerator by mistake.

She was then asked to take a breath test by the officer who found that she was way above the legal limit. She was immediately arrested for drink driving. Tallec's lawyer, Sashi Nathan, shared that his client was 'genuinely remorseful'. Tallec has her own fashion line called Totally Tala and had moved to Singapore from NYC after she married a businessman.

This is not her first driving conviction and she reportedly has another one in Singapore which dates back to 2013. As a result of her 2013 conviction, she was disqualified from driving for two years.
