Corey Feldman and Corey Haim were groomed, abused by Alphy Hoffman in infamous Alphy's Soda Pop Club for kids
Alphy's Soda Pop Club was in the news after actor Corey Feldman revealed that the man who ran this underground children's club, Andy Hoffman, sexually abused him and his late friend Corey Haim at the age of 12. Feldman made the revelation during an appearance on the 'Dr. Oz Show' November 13, 2017.
Hoffman, whose real name is Alphy Rivas, ran the private Hollywood club from 1986 to 1989, and invited children from the entertainment industry to let loose. Alphy's Soda Pop Club was deemed the "ultimate teenage wonderland," where only children under the age of 16 working in the entertainment industry were permitted.
The club reportedly had a dancefloor, neverending access to soda and courted popular stars besides Feldman and Haim, including Alyssa Milano, Nicole Eggert, Scott Grimes, Christina Applegate, and Alfonso Ribeiro. Although the club parties had the hottest gigs in the town, they were also infamous for alleged predatory sexual activity as revealed by Feldman recently.
"I met him when I was 12 years old," Feldman told Dr. Oz. "He came to my house to pick me up in his car. I’d heard rumors he threw the coolest parties in town and he was well connected. Those parties were relatively kid-friendly."
"Interestingly, that’s where I met the guy that ended up molesting Haim," Feldman continued. "There were a bunch of these guys. They were there hanging out together at these parties. And the thing is, there weren’t a lot of parents at the party. Because he would pick them up and he would become friends with all these kids."
The actor also claimed that after he started frequenting the popular clubs, Hoffman began molesting him. Although Feldman at the time did not understand what was happening to him, experts on the show said that Hoffman "groomed" Feldman. Grooming is a process where a child predator attempts to fain the trust of their victim before the assault. Feldman revealed that he was left confused and frightened when the abuse began, particularly because Hoffman had often attempted to talk to the 12-year-old about girls and dating.
Feldman also alleged that Hoffman also drugged him once when the actor was at his home. He claimed that he had to lie down to make the room stop spinning, he was so "out of it" at the time. The actor believes that the incident was when Hoffman began abusing him. Feldman revealed that he was afraid to tell his parents about the incident at the time, worried about what they might say.
"One night, we were watching a movie, and I passed out while we were watching the movie," Feldman said. "And when I woke up, there was a porn on again. And I was like 'Man I'm really tired,' and he was like 'Oh go lay down in my bedroom.'"
The actor is preparing for the March 9 release of his much-anticipated documentary '(My) Truth: The Rape of 2 Coreys', where he is set to reveal the name of his and Haim's alleged abusers in the entertainment industry.
