What is the plot of ‘Alone Together’?
The plot of the film revolves around food critic June (Katie Holmes) and a recently single man Charlie (Jim Sturgess). June plans a short getaway trip to have a break from pandemic-hit New York city. She is a food critic by profession. She books an AirBnb accommodation for herself and her boyfriend John (Derek Luke). Her plan for this short getaway trip goes wrong from the start itself. When she arrives at her accommodation, she is shocked to know that the AirBnb has also been double booked by the recently single man Charlie. On the flip side, June’s romantic life gets complicated when her boyfriend John decides to stay in the city for taking care of his parents. June and Charlie decide to enjoy their life in those moments with each other. They also end up developing an unexpected intimacy wherein they bond over their goals, ambitions and also talk about relationships.
The official synopsis reads, “Going upstate for a short romantic getaway to escape the pandemic in New York City, food critic June's (Katie Holmes) plans go wrong from the start. Arriving at the AirBnb in advance of her boyfriend, John (Derek Luke), she is shocked to discover it has been double-booked by recently single Charlie (Jim Sturgess). When John decides to stay in the city to take care of his parents, June has to settle in for the long haul as she realizes that the initial two weeks of the pandemic might just drag on a little bit longer than expected. As spring begins to unfold around them, June and Charlie make the most of the sudden break in their routines and develop an unexpected intimacy as they bond over their goals, ambitions and, of course, relationships”.
