Alicia Silverstone files for divorce from husband Christopher Jarecki
Alicia Silverstone has filed for divorce from her husband Christopher Jarecki three months after they announced their split. According to the court documents obtained by The Blast, Alicia filed for divorce on March 15, 2016. The documents cite irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.
As for their 7-year-old son, Bear, the couple requested both joint legal and physical custody. According to the website, Alicia and Christopher already have a prenuptial agreement in place to dictate spousal support. As for the property, the two have come to an understanding of dividing it after an evaluation of assets and debt. The pair had announced their separation in February and in a statement said that they would still remain good friends.
“They still deeply love and respect each other and remain very close friends but have mutually decided to separate after being together for 20 years. They have a son together who they will continue to co-parent,” Alicia's rep told People at that time.
The pair got married in 2005 in a private lakeside ceremony in Lake Tahoe. Alicia and Christopher decided to have an intimate wedding where they were surrounded by their close family and friends. Opening up to the magazine, Alicia had recalled how Christopher had popped the big question in the most beautiful way possible.
“He was waiting on our old wicker love seat, ring in hand, with the most beautiful proposal any best friend could ever give,” she explained. The actress also revealed that it was hard for her to wait until the end of the ceremony to kiss him. “It was so hard not to kiss him during the ceremony! I was going out of my mind,” she said. “So the kiss at the end was amazing.”
Christopher was formerly the lead singer of the band S.T.U.N. and now hosts his own radio show, A Musical Journey with Christopher Jarecki. Meanwhile, Alicia can be seen in the upcoming sitcom American Woman. This comes after she starred opposite Irish actors Colin Farrell and Barry Keoghan in The Killing of a Sacred Deer.
