Who is Alicia Scholes?

Born in Manchester on May 8, 2001, Alicia Scholes, the daughter of Paul Scholes, 46, and Claire Froggatt, 45, turned 20 this year. She is an up-and-coming England and London Pulse netball player. Alicia shot to prominence as she rose through the netball rankings from the U17 to U21 of England's netball team since her debut international tournament in early 2018. At the club level, she had an impressive career playing center for Manchester Thunder, the defending champions of the Vitality Netball Superleague.

The mid-courter, who is able to play both center and wing attack positions, sparked interest during her short stint with the U17 side after going on a tour of Australia and competing at a U21 Netball Europe Championship in Worcester. She was subsequently selected for another tour of Oceania with the U19s before being selected in the U21 long squad for the Youth World Cup. The following weeks saw the then Manchester Thunder player make her mark in the Netball Europe U21 Championships triumph in Northern Ireland in 2019, according to England Netball's website.

While at Thunder, Scholes was reportedly a part of the Vitality Netball Superleague squad which finished in third in 2021. Meanwhile, she also plays an instrumental role for Premier League 2 side, YWCA Bury. Alicia recently left Manchester Thunder to join London Pulse. She appears to be an avid traveler, per her Instagram, which features photos in several holiday destinations including Greece and Spain. Her profile also features several workout videos and routines shared with her more than 116,000 followers on the platform.

Who are her parents?

As mentioned, Alicia is the daughter of soccer legend Paul Scholes, who has continued his career as a coach and co-owner of Salford City since retiring from the sport. The famed midfielder made 718 appearances and scored 155 goals for United, winning 25 trophies — 11 being Premier League titles — from 1993 to 2013. He retired in May 2013 after playing for England on 66 occasions.

Scholes married Claire Froggatt in 1999. She appears to be a doting mother to Alicia as the daughter shared a photo of the pair enjoying Christmas together amid the pandemic in 2020. Father Scholes recently made waves after he was seen on a clip shared by his daughter appearing to bite her toenails. Many were quick to react to the post with snarky comments, since daughter Scholes had captioned the post, "true love." However, she appeared to have been joking with her father.
