Alexander Wang branded 'sexual predator' for allegedly drugging and groping multiple transgender models
Famous fashion designer Alexander Wang was accused of sexually assaulting male and transgender models by an Instagram page called Sh*t Model Management, which claims to be a safe space for models to tell their truth.
"Alexander Wang has been accused of sexual assault for a few years now. Instead of letting these occurrences be swept under the rug, it is time to do something about this. Please unfollow @alexwangny & @alexanderwangny to show your support to the victims. It is time to hold abusers in the fashion industry accountable," read the caption of a post that comprised multiple tales on Tuesday, December 29.
The post added, "Male and trans models are often overlooked in the conversations of sexual assault in the modeling industry, but not today. We can’t let famous people get away with sexual assault just because they’re on a pedestal. They need to be held accountable just like every other abuse."
A number of posts followed where Wang’s accusers, most of whom preferred to remain anonymous, went public with their allegations against the fashion giant, including his alleged acts of drugging and groping them.
“Alexander Wang is an alleged sexual predator, many male models and trans models have come out and spoken about the alleged sexual abuse that Alexander Wang has inflicted upon them. It is important to show your support to these victims by unfollowing Alexander Wang and boycotting his clothing line," the header post that listed the allegations read.
More than half a dozen accounts were from model Owen Mooney, who said that he was at a packed club in New York City in 2017 when Wang allegedly violated him. “'I was by myself at one point and this guy next to me obviously took at advantage of the fact that no one could f**king move,” Mooney said in a video that he previously uploaded to Tik-Tok.
Mooney said that Wang “'just started touching me up, like, fully up my leg, in my crotch. "It made me freeze completely me because I was in so much shock,” the model said. “And then I look to my left to see who it was and it was a really famous fashion designer and I just couldn't believe that he was doing that to me.”
A different accuser recalled riding in a limousine with Wang after a party and being handed water by the designer who sure he downed the whole cup. “A few moments after, they noticed they were rolling and had been giving Molly water,” the person said. “This was a regular occurrence because a year after being told this story, I also heard other people confirm that they also got drugged on the way to any after-party.”
The Fashion advocacy group Model Alliance issued a statement on Tuesday in support of Wang’s accusers. “We at Model Alliance stand in solidarity with those who have shared accusations of sexual abuse by Alexander Wang,” the group stated in an Instagram post. “Let's be clear: The fashion industry's lack of transparency and accountability leaves all models vulnerable to abuse, regardless of their sex or gender identity.”
Sh*t Model MGMT also uploaded the posts on their Twitter channel that sparked outrage on social media. "This is so f**ked up. He should’ve been canceled after the whole sweatshop incident, to begin with," one of them said, while another one wrote, "Knew something was fishy about A Wang. He and his circle of friends are big on drugs. I’m glad I’ve never purchased any of his stuff - not even anything from Balenciaga when he was its creative director for a brief time years ago."
A third added: "I always had a weird feeling about him." One more commented, "This is so sad I’m so sorry this happened and every innocent person who was violated I am sorry 4 wat ur going thru and offer my help in anyway. We must expose these sick individuals, who tink jz cuz they have money or fame they can do what they want! #exposealexanderwang"
