PERUGIA, ITALY: Pamela Mastropietro, 18, was raped and killed by 32-year-old Innocent Oseghale in the town of Macerta in central Italy in January 2018. The case became famous after her mother, Alessandra Verni, wore to court a printed T-shirt of her daughter's mutilated body during the hearing.
Verni has come out victorious as the court dismissed Oseghale's appeal against life sentence. The Perugia court ruled that Oseghala had raped Pamela after supplying her with heroin. Oseghale has been accused of murder, sexual assault, concealment, and destruction of a body. However, the murderer had initially claimed in his testimony that the 18-year-old died from a heroin overdose.

Who is Alessandra Verni?
Verni is the mother of the 18-year-old girl, Pamela Mastropietro, who was raped and killed by Innocent Oseghale, 32. He had dismembered her body parts after the death in an attempt to get rid of the evidence. Oseghale is a nigerian drug dealer and had sexually abused Pamela and upheld his life term. Verni has constantly been campaigning against Oseghale, receiving a reduction in the life sentence. Meanwhile, during one of the hearings she also appeared in the court wearing a t-shirt depicting the dismembered body parts of her child. However, Oseghale was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment, with eighteen months in solitary confinement. She said after wearing the t-shirt, "It was painful to show those images, but I had no choice, I go to bed every night to dream of Pamela. That is why I showed that photo," as per La Stampa. She then claimed, "anyone who saw those images knew that if they were made public they would shake consciences."
In 2019, she had also claimed, " A fast-track trial would be good so long as all the truth comes out because it was not only him. There were other people with Osenghale the day he killed Pamela [...] I feel that no one is being investigated. No one is looking for these men. No one is looking for the accomplices of the murderer,"as per Daily Mail. She also added, "In my battles for justice, I always have my daughter's friends by my side. Watching them grow up is like watching her grow up."
How was Pamela Mastropietro murdered?
The 118-year-old was murdered shortly after she left an addiction rehab center in Macerata in the Marche region in 2018. Investigators believed she had left the center and walked to the train station. She later tried to find drugs in Macerata and met Oseghale, who was 29 at the time and a local drug dealer. A day later, a local man found two suitcases in a small ditch containing Pamela's mutilated and dismembered body parts. The autopsy revealed that she died from multiple stab wounds to the abdomen. It was also determined that her body had been dismembered while she was still alive.
