Al Pacino's girlfriend Meital Dohan blames 39-year age gap for split: 'It's hard to be with a man so old'
Following Al Pacino's solo turn at the Oscars last week, Israeli actress Meital Dohan has confirmed her split from the 'Godfather' actor and spilled on the struggles of dating a man 39 years older than her.
"It's hard to be with a man so old, even Al Pacino," Dohan declared in a candid chat with Israel's La'Isha magazine, Daily Mail reported. The 'Weeds' actress, 40, began dating Pacino, 79, two years ago.
She said that the more she tried to follow the "age was no bar" rule during their relationship, she quickly realized that age did play a huge factor when it came to dating the actor.
"The age gap is difficult, yes. I tried to deny it, but now he is already an elderly man, to be honest. So even with all my love, it didn't last," Dohan told the publication.
When she was asked by the magazine if she was at least showered with expensive gifts during the years that they were together, she laughed. "How can I say politely that he didn't like to spend money?... He only bought me flowers," Dohan added.
Nevertheless, in conclusion, she said that despite their problems it was an 'honor' to spend time with the veteran star and that they had an amicable breakup. They remain friends even after their split, she said.
Dohan was last seen by Pacino's side when they attended 'The Irishman' premiere in Los Angeles together in October 2019. Before his brief relationship with her, the two-time Tony winner dated Argentine actress Lucila Solá - a romance that lasted for a decade. Currently, Solá's daughter, Camila Morrone is dating Leonardo DiCaprio.
The actor shares 18-year-old twins Olivia and Anton with his ex Beverly D'Angelo, who he dated for seven years, splitting up in 2003. He also has a 30-year-old daughter, Julie Marie, who is a producer, with his former acting coach Jan Tarrant.
Pachino's long list of girlfriends in the past includes Diane Keaton, Jill Clayburgh, Penelope Ann Miller, Kathleen Quinlan, and Lyndall Hobbs.
