Actress Akshara Haasan condemns 'pervert' who leaked her nude pictures online
Akshara took to social media to express her displeasure and called out the 'pervert' who leaked her private pictures to the public
Indian film actress Akshara Haasan was hacked online and her private pictures were leaked on November 5. Akshara reached out to the Mumbai Police and the cyber cell to seek help.
Akshara took to Instagram and Twitter to express herself and called out the "pervert" who circulated her private pictures to the public. She was disappointed by people who were circulating the images further by adding clickbait-y headlines.
The young actress shared her #MeToo story on Instagram writing, "Recently, some of my private pictures were leaked on the internet. Who did this, or why, is not known to me yet. But what I do know is that it is deeply unfortunate to make a young girl the victim of such an act only for a pervert mind’s enjoyment.
"And each time someone shares it with eye-catching headlines to draw more traction, it scars me deeper and adds to everyone’s participation in my harassment and helplessness."
She added, "It’s particularly disturbing and deeply upsetting to see that at a time when the nation has woken up to the #metoo movement, there are still people out there who would harass and attempt to share private pictures of a young girl in the public eye only to derive some perverse pleasure that appeals only to them. I have reached out to the Mumbai Police and the Cyber Cell to seek their help in tracking the person/s responsible for this leak and hope to get to the bottom of this soon.
"Till then, I can only request that we all learn to live and let live with dignity and privacy and hope that the internet won’t continue actively participating in my harassment. #metoo."
Akshara did receive support from her friends and fans online but there were people who believed in blaming the victim and did not hesitate in pointing fingers at her.
Like Akshara, many Bollywood stars have spoken up about the harassment that takes place in the industry and called out the people responsible to make them feel unsafe at their workplace. By speaking out about their abuse, Bollywood stars and Akshara have given a boost to the #MeToo movement.
