'It’s not a Vegas act': 'AGT' fans call out judges for praising Lambros Garcia's classic voguing moves

Although Lambros Garcia is adored by viewers, not everyone thinks he can be the star of a Las Vegas show yet as he needs to grow more as an artist

PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: Lambros Garcia impressed the judges with his Vogue Zone performance on the Season 18 Live Shows of 'America's Got Talent', which aired on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Fans, on the other hand, were skeptical about it as they questioned whether the performance was worthy of being a Las Vegas act.

'AGT' season 18 finally began the Live Shows after nine episodes of auditions. The Qualifiers will last for five weeks. Each of the five weeks, eleven of the 55 performers will perform. Only two will be chosen by popular vote in America.

'AGT' fans claim Lambros Garcia is 'not a Vegas act'

Lambros, a New Yorker, told the judges during his audition that he was tormented at school because of his passion for dancing, but that since being on the show, he's become very popular and sees himself as "Lambros 2.0". He performed a new act on the Todrick Hall song 'Vogue Zone' on Tuesday night, which contained several traditional voguing movements.

Heidi Klum admired that Lambros didn't care what other people thought and would dress however he liked. Sofia Vergara also appreciated how he's grown in confidence and how he's "so happy when you're doing it."

Simon Cowell stated that he enjoys the feedback he has received from people back home as a result of his time on the show. Simon "defines personality," and this is what distinguishes him. Lambros, according to Howie Mandel, did not change after his audition but is instead working to change the world.

Disagreeing with the judges over Lambros having "the moves", one viewer tweeted, "Um, no he doesn't." Another person chimed in, "So stupid." One fan quipped, "We can stop pretending Lambros was good." Another user tweeted, "Not a million dollar act."

One viewer noted, "Yeesh, the live shows are off to a bad start. Lambros was so bad, the bullies at the school are going to make memes out of that performance." One user added, "It’s not a Vegas act but Lambros belongs on a stage."

Another person added, "Lambros is entertaining, but he is not a $1M Vegas headline act...yet. Give him a couple of years and he needs to have a backing group of dancers with him."

Lambros Garcia impressed 'AGT' crowd with dazzling moves during auditions

During the audition round, Lambros sobbed after an electrifying performance in a sparkling green jacket that included splits, kicks, cartwheels, and even a few breakdancing movements. "I get bullied a little bit at school," he said. "And this all really meant a lot to me."

But Judge Howie reassured him that he had just delivered a strong message to his bullies. "You danced with such joy, such precision," Howie said, adding, "You gotta be strong, you gotta be an athlete, you gotta be amazing. And performing the way you just did was the ultimate [taunting noise]."

And Judge Heidi reminded him that the entire audience was on their feet as a result of his maneuvers, and that "they're not standing up here for nothing."

"A lot of people don’t really know what it is to be a male dancer, and I love it so much," Lambros said, adding, "I'm never going to let anyone stop me."

"Don't let anyone stop you!" said Sofia. "They bully you because they envy you," she explained to him, adding, "They can’t do what you can do. They’re afraid of you. So don’t pay attention to them — that was spectacular."

Lambros was lauded by Simon for his "natural stage presence". "Now you’re going to go back to school with your head held high, saying, ‘I did this, I was brave enough to do this, and I was amazing,'" Simon said.

"Because you were amazing. And if they start again, those bullies … you tell them we’re coming down to sort them out." Simon added his own "yes" vote after receiving "yes" votes from Howie, Heidi, and Sofia, stating, "You don't have three yesses, you have about four and a half thousand yesses."

Who is Lambros Garcia?

Lambros Garcia, 10, loved dancing from a young age. His small body would constantly move to the beat, no matter where he was or what music was playing on the radio. This was formally proved during a karate lesson when everyone else was focused on their sensei and Lambros was dancing on the side, developing his techniques.

Lambros enrolled in his first hip-hop class in 2018, and his debut recital was a big hit. He quickly became a member of the company squad at MOSSA Dance Academy in New York.

Lambros has competed in several contests and dance conventions, earning numerous prizes and certifications, including "America's 2021 Young Male Dancer of the Year" at the American Dance prizes.
