Actress Park Shin-hye’s agency is taking strong actions against malicious posters online for which ‘Sisyphus: The Myth’ star was subjected to sexually harassing comments and character assassination online. Shin-hye’s agency Salt Entertainment released a statement where they clearly stated that online harassment of the actress will not be tolerated and updated on the legal progress of the cases lodged against several users.

This isn’t the first time Shin-hye’s agency came to take strict action against online bullies. A report from 2017 suggests that an overwhelming number of hate comments were shared online against the actress when the company stepped in and took necessary measures to legally stop malicious slander on social media sites.

In the latest report, SALT entertainment stated, “we are consistently monitoring online activities for any malicious content involving our label artists. We would like to notify an update regarding some legal cases. Previously, after collecting evidence via our own monitoring and thanks to reports sent in from fans, we were able to file lawsuits against several malicious netizens with the Suwon Central Police Station.”

It continued with “As a result, back in February of this year, the defendants were sentenced fines for inappropriate online activity and defamation of character. We will continue to take strong legal action against any and all cases of malicious defamation, false rumors, sexual harassment, derision, invasion of privacy, etc. There will be absolutely no settlements or forgiveness.”

The statement concluded by saying, "we will do our best so that we can not only protect our artists' rights, but so that we can also ensure that the fans who support and love our artists will not be hurt by malicious activity online.”

Shin-hye fans have praised the company’s decision for taking strict action while other users have shared that all companies should follow suit. A fan said, “As they should no one ever should defame the character of an individual whether it’s a man or women They do not need Character certification from unwanted stupid people!” Another said, “People really will accuse they idols and actresses for bullying and then admit they lied just to get sued .... who likes to lie so much to the point they get sued .. antis are weird!” A user shared, “All cmpny should do this in protecting the artist that have worked for them.”

With the increased numbers of harsh character assassination and bullying comments emerging online, it is about time that more serious conversations regarding this take place online which can pave the way to stop the harassments.
