Aaron Hernandez's fiancée breaks down after Netflix documentary on late NFL star: 'It's the hardest thing ever'
Aaron Hernandez's fiancée Shayanna Jenkins gave her first interview to 'Good Morning America' following the Netflix documentary that looked at the late NFL star's suicide, murder conviction and sexuality.
The 30-year-old was seen in tears in the interview's preview clip when she is asked to talk about Hernandez, according to Daily Mail. "It's the hardest thing ever," she says in the clip.
The site also reported that there are certain elements that needed to be explained and were not part of the documentary.
Jenkins had not shed light on the documentary since its release on January 15. She shared a daughter with the New England Patriots star and was engaged to him before he committed suicide in prison where he was serving a murder sentence.
The documentary explores his childhood, his rise as an NFL player and eventually him as a killer. Titled 'Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez', the gripping docu-series had ample news coverage, clips of his childhood and interviews with his close ties — one of them being his former lover, Dennis SanSoucie.
A teaser of the interview dropped on Twitter with Jenkins being asked: "How do you think the world should remember Aaron Hernandez?" It is here that she responds and breaks into tears while there is a continuous stream of narration.
According to HNHH, the documentary has faced severe backlash from those directly involved in the murder case. The family of Odin Lloyd, the man he murdered, said they were "blindsided" by the documentary after declining this and other specials in the past.
They added that producers had used old footage of themselves to make it look like they had given exclusive interviews for it. At the time of his death, Lloyd was dating Shaneah Jenkins, sister of the fiancée of Aaron Hernandez.
'Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez' is now streaming on Netflix.
