'A Teacher' Episode 6: Will Claire get pregnant? Here's how motel sex could wreck Eric and her life forever

When does sex become a crime? Episode 6 of ‘A Teacher’ begins with the unfathomable words: “Matt, I'm having an affair... I'm sleeping with my student.” Claire Wilson (Kate Mara) confesses what she did to her husband and all hell breaks loose. 

As bizarre as it sounds, Matt offers his support to her instead of getting angry. His reason: “Because I love you... But this is 10 years. You f**ked up real bad. We're gonna get a lawyer and therapy, we can get past this.” Does he really love her or is just scared of cutting a 10-year-long relationship that he built for so long? Despite all his support and care, Claire doesn't seem to give two thoughts about Matt Nicholas (Ashley Zukerman) and flees with Eric Walker (Nick Robinson) again. 

More than two lovers eloping the scene – it seems like a classic case of kidnapping. The two land up in a motel and have sex. It seems quite bizarre that even after cops land up at Eric's home, there is no surveillance on them and they can just get away like that. During their intercourse, Claire dominates him and asks him to look right into her eyes. The next morning, Eric is gone. Did the missed calls from his mom and his friends make him realize what he had done? Could he finally see how he was manipulated? 

“My entire life gone... for you,” Claire tells him, right before the last time they have sex. Isn't that a form of emotional and sexual abuse? While Eric returns to his mom, Claire steps foot into a police station. Will she turn herself in and be charged with a sex crime? The next episode may tell us how the consequences shape up for Claire but for now, many fans are worried she might end up being pregnant.

Many viewers spilled their thoughts about the show. “Mrs Wilson has all the power in this relationship & continues to use it to manipulate Eric. Again the responsibility for this situation is on her. It's important for us to understand Eric's feelings of 'love' & desire to be w/ the offender are all too common,” one said and another posted, “Remember that #childsexualabuse happens in secret because the truth would destroy the normalcy of the offender. Eric is afraid to say anything because Mrs. Wilson told him not to. Eric is feeling fear, shame, guilt, and anger in response to the cop interview.”
