SAN FRANCISCO: Around $500k worth of jewelry and electronics items were stolen from Alex 'A-Rod' Rodriguez's rental car while he was in San Francisco on Sunday, August 11.
The robbery happened when he was out having dinner with the ESPN production crew, reports say.
As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, a thief had broken into A-Rod's rented vehicle, which was parked around three blocks away from Oracle Park, somewhere between 9 and 11 pm.
The thief reportedly was able to steal Rodriguez's camera, laptop, jewelry, and a bag.
Rodriguez, who is currently engaged to singer and actress Jennifer Lopez, was in San Francisco to broadcast the Giants-Phillies game for ESPN.
The sports network had rented a black Nissan SUV for A-Rod as well as other members of the channel's production team before it was robbed and broken into.
ESPN released a statement which read, "It’s an unfortunate situation. We’re working with local authorities to address it."
On Monday, an ESPN official revealed that Rodriguez and his colleagues were grabbing dinner when the robbery occurred.
The San Francisco police are treating the robbery as a "high priority" case.
Burglary investigators and detectives were working the scene of the robbery to collect evidence from the vehicle overnight.
A representative for Rodriguez revealed that the value of items that were stolen was "grossly exaggerated" though he refused to give any specific amount.
Recently, Rodriguez had celebrated his 44th birthday while at his Miami home.
This was just days after he had gifted JLO a red color Porsche for her 50th birthday.
Around 200 of the couple's friends were seen at a caviar bar and buffet at JLO's birthday party.
The party had taken place at Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s Miami estate on Star Island.
Lopez was seen sporting a Versace dress in the party, which had surprise performances from celebrities such as Fat Joe, Ashanti, and DJ Khaled.
