'A New Year’s Resolution': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about Hallmark movie
A morning show producer makes a resolution to say 'yes' more in her life and her biggest story unfolds
If you were getting a bit sad about Hallmark's Christmas movies coming to an end, don't be. The holiday cheer continues on the channel with its ‘New Year, New Movies!’ 2021 movie schedule. The five New Year New Movies premieres include 'Taking a Shot at Love', 'A New Year’s Resolution', 'Two for the Win', 'Love in the Alps' and 'Snowkissed'. The movie to watch out for in the schedule is 'A New Year's Resolution', which seems like a perfect title to start a new month and a new year as we leave the jinxed 2020 behind.
The film will air on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 9 pm ET on the Hallmark channel.
Local Milwaukee morning show producer Kelly Leone (Aimee Teegarden) makes a New Year’s resolution that she cannot say no to any social invitation for a full month. When she reluctantly agrees to become the subject of her show’s month-long on-air experiment about the resolution, Kelly really goes outside her comfort zone and participates in all kinds of activities and events she would normally decline. The one thing she never counted on, however, is the possibility of falling in love with charismatic businessman Tom Malone (Michael Rady).
Aimee Teegarden plays Kelly in the film. A California native, Teegarden began her acting when she was just 10 years old. At 16, she was cast in her first television series on the Emmy-nominated 'Friday Night Lights' playing Julie Taylor. In 2014, she starred in the science-fiction romantic drama series for The CW, 'StarCrossed'. More recently, Teegarden starred in ABC series 'Notorious', opposite Piper Perabo. She is also a familiar face on the Hallmark channel having starred in films like 'Once Upon a Christmas Miracle'.
Michael Rady had a recurring role on NBC’s Sci-Fi drama 'Timeless' and a stand-out series regular role in the second season of 'UnREAL'. He also has a recurring role in Netflix's 'Atypical'. Other recent credits include The CW series 'Jane the Virgin', CBS drama 'Intelligence', and Fox's 'The Resident'. He has also romanced Kristen Bell in Showtime’s 'House of Lies' and starred in several Hallmark original movies like ’Two Turtle Doves', 'Christmas in Homestead', 'Christmas at Pemberley Manor', and 'A Joyous Christmas'.
Lesley Demetriades directed the film based on a script written by Sarah Montana. Executive producer is Stan Spry and Devan Towers is the co-producer from Crown Media Productions.
The trailer shows Teegarden's Kelly Leone telling Rady's Tom Malone that because of her new year's resolution to say yes to everything, she has done things in a month that she has never done before. And dating Malone seems to be on the list as well. We see her getting dressed to the nines for an evening out as Malone calls her "breathtaking". But there are inevitable complications because our heroine tells Malone they can't be together. But Malone reminds her that it is just a matter of her saying yes.
