Zied Hakimi and Rebecca Parrott 's relationship has been criticized for various reasons. However, one reason that angered many fans was how Zied treated Rebecca. The couple usually had trust issues which often led them into arguing with each other. However, in one of the episodes of the show, viewers were left shocked about how Zied reacted after he saw Rebecca's picture with another man on her phone. However, the twist in their story came when Zied got to know that Rebecca was legally still married, (she filed for divorce before leaving to meet Zied), and the picture on her phone was her ex-husband's.

Zied then admitted that he was controlling and did have trust issues. It came as a shock for Rebecca because she had been down the same road with her ex-husband. Hoping to sort things out, Rebecca tried explaining Zied the situation but he did not seem convinced. He then put his hand around Rebecca to ensure she looked at him while they spoke.

However, Rebecca felt uncomfortable and tried to free herself. While he let her go, she was not too pleased with how things turned out. Rebecca faced another controlling issue when Zied accused of her wearing clothes that invited unwanted attention.

Looking at this behavior of Zied, people had a lot of opinions about him. Some asked Rebecca to leave Zied while others wanted her to file a case of domestic violence against him. However, Rebecca has now come forward defending what had happened. "I need to make something VERY CLEAR. Zied has NEVER been abusive. Zied would NEVER be abusive. This is dangerous to make light of and it needs to stop now," she said in an Instagram post.

She also added that the preview might have led people to form opinions that are untrue. "I understand that the preview was misleading. However, the scene in its full entirety was very clear! Zied was apologizing to me and I was the one who pulled away from him. I was angry, not Zied", she said.

She further added that being a survivor of domestic abuse she would make sure the same is not repeated with her.  "As an abuse survivor in previous relationships, I would never allow this, and would never make excuses for it. In addition, TLC and Sharp Entertainment would not only not have allowed it, but would not have aired it," she said.

She concluded the post by stating, "it is dangerous to make accusations like this and make it look like I’m making excuses. As there are women watching in actually dangerous relationships that think if I’m staying with this man, it’s okay for them too. It is never okay to be in any relationship that is even slightly abusive. Reality tv likes to create drama and did that with the preview. The scene in its entirety, clearly shows Zied was not being abusive in ANY way. Be responsible with your accusations."
