Sam Raimi's brand new project '50 States of Fright' is all set to drop on Quibi, the streaming service optimized for viewing on the go. The horror anthology series will explore stories based on urban legends from across the United States.

The first episode of '50 States of Fright' will be set in Michigan. 'The Golden Arm' has been directed by Raimi himself (the only episode of the series he's personally directed) with the script for the episode co-written by Raimi and his brother Ivan.

The Raimis are Michigan natives so we're expecting this first story of the series to come with a bit of a personal touch. Not too much is known about the plot of the episode except that 'The Golden Arm' is the title of a popular American folk tale.

The folk story tells the tale of a woman with a golden prosthetic arm whose husband steals the arm from her grave after her death. She returns from the dead to haunt him and confront him over the theft of her arm.

It's a pretty straightforward story but we don't know if the legend being adapted for the show is the same one. In any case, the series ought to be worth a watch, considering the stellar talent associated with it

'The Golden Arm' will star Rachel Brosnahan ('The Marvelous Mrs Maisel'), Travis Fimmel ('Vikings') and John Marshall Jones ('Grand Hotel') in lead roles. The story will be told across three episodes, all launching on the same day.

"The driving force for us as a studio is to foster the careers of emerging talent by marrying them with proven innovators," Van Toffler, CEO of Gunpowder & Sky, said in a press release about the show.

"With '50 States of Fright', we sought out a diverse group of breakthrough performers and fearless horror visionaries and partnered them with Sam Raimi to oversee the creative process. This winning formula ensures we’ll get a s-load of scares."

The show's episodes are expected to have an average run-time of approximately 10 minutes. Each story will be broken down into three 10-minute episodes, making up a total half-hour of horror.

'50 States of Fright' will premiere its very first story on April 13, exclusively on Quibi.
