Before Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, these celebrities held their dream destination weddings in Rajasthan
A host of celebrities from both Bollywood and Hollywood, in the past, have chosen Rajasthan for their dream destination wedding.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have officially become a couple, after the two exchanged their much-anticipated wedding vows in a western ceremony held at the Taj Umaid Bhavan Palace hotel in Jodhpur, Rajasthan in India. However, Jonas and Chopra aren't the only celebrity couples that fell in love with Rajasthan's royal scene. A host of celebrities from both Bollywood and Hollywood, in the past, have chosen Rajasthan for their dream destination wedding.
Rajasthan is no less famous than any foreign destination, given the exquisite and dreamy palaces and hotels that the place has to offer any couple willing to shell out enough dough to have an extravagant wedding. So here we have a list of celebrity couples from all around the world who chose to make their wedding an affair no less than fairytale in the royal state of Rajasthan.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
Talk about the wedding of the year, right? Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, who got engaged to each other in August this year after a whirlwind romance, tied the knot on December 1 at the Umaid Bhavan Palace in Jodhpur Rajasthan. The couple's wedding and pre-wedding festivities were absolutely fit for a royal, starting from the entry of guests to the tight security at the venue. The couple will have another wedding ceremony, a Hindu one, at the same venue on December 2, in order to honor Chopra's Indian heritage.
Katy Perry and Russell Brand
What's a destination wedding without a dash of extravaganza, right? Pop star Katy Perry and comedian Russel Brand got married in a lavish ceremony on October 23, 2010, and reportedly exchanged their vows in front of some 80 guests at the exclusive Aman-i-Khas resort near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan. The couple had booked 21 camels and an assortment of elephants and horses for the marriage procession, as revealed by their wedding organizers at the time. For their wedding the palace was brightly lit with lamps, with lights set up to illuminate the trees, and flower garlands were used to decorate the luxury tents at the resort. Despite being neither of Asian descent or practicing the Hindu faith, their wedding festivities heavily relied on both. They hosted a Bollywood theme party for their guests, had the Indian wedding procession, and even incorporated Vedic chanting in their ceremony. It's another story that despite the grand start to their married life, 14 months after tying the knot, the couple filed for divorce.
Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar
In what was dubbed as the wedding of the year in 2007, 'Austin Powers' actress Elizabeth Hurley got hitched to business tycoon and NRI Arun Nayar at Umaid Bhavan Palace in Jodhpur, the same venue as Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. Jodhpur happens to be Nayar's hometown. In the fit-for-a-prince wedding, the Indian textile tycoon and the dazzling bride held their pre-wedding festivities all over the city, with their sangeet taking place at the Nagaur Fort, and a reception at the Mehrangarh Fort. The duo, just like Jonas and Chopra, also had a western wedding, which took place at the Sudeley Castle in England. Not many details are known about their wedding since the security was top-notch. But we do know the palace was a host to the grand celebrations that lasted for about a week!

The 90s bollywood icon Raveena Tandon and film distributor Anil Thadani, tied the knot in a spectacular wedding ceremony that took place in the princely state of Rajasthan on February 22, 2004, at Shiv Niwas Palace, Udaipur. The couple's wedding festivities were held against the majestic backdrop of Jag Mandir, which is located on an island surrounded by Lake Pichchola of Udaipur. The venue reportedly looked like a paradise, since it had been tastefully decorated with lights and flowers, and the whole affair looked no less than venue out of a fairytale.
Neil Nitin Mukesh and Rukmini Sahay
Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh got married to aviation professional Rukmini Sahay at the Radisson Blu Palace Resort & spa in Udaipur, Rajasthan on February 9, 2017. The grand destination wedding had almost every single big name from the Indian film industry in attendance at the elegant, palatial resort hotel with a dome-accented roof, not far from the City Palace and the Saheliyon-ki-Bari gardens. The couple are now, more than a year later, happy parents to a wonderful little baby girl.
