Katy Perry and Russell Brand

What's a destination wedding without a dash of extravaganza, right? Pop star Katy Perry and comedian Russel Brand got married in a lavish ceremony on October 23, 2010, and reportedly exchanged their vows in front of some 80 guests at the exclusive Aman-i-Khas resort near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan. The couple had booked 21 camels and an assortment of elephants and horses for the marriage procession, as revealed by their wedding organizers at the time. For their wedding the palace was brightly lit with lamps, with lights set up to illuminate the trees, and flower garlands were used to decorate the luxury tents at the resort. Despite being neither of Asian descent or practicing the Hindu faith, their wedding festivities heavily relied on both. They hosted a Bollywood theme party for their guests, had the Indian wedding procession, and even incorporated Vedic chanting in their ceremony. It's another story that despite the grand start to their married life, 14 months after tying the knot, the couple filed for divorce.

Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar

In what was dubbed as the wedding of the year in 2007, 'Austin Powers' actress Elizabeth Hurley got hitched to business tycoon and NRI Arun Nayar at Umaid Bhavan Palace in Jodhpur, the same venue as Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. Jodhpur happens to be Nayar's hometown. In the fit-for-a-prince wedding, the Indian textile tycoon and the dazzling bride held their pre-wedding festivities all over the city, with their sangeet taking place at the Nagaur Fort, and a reception at the Mehrangarh Fort. The duo, just like Jonas and Chopra, also had a western wedding, which took place at the Sudeley Castle in England. Not many details are known about their wedding since the security was top-notch. But we do know the palace was a host to the grand celebrations that lasted for about a week!
