BOGOTA, COLOMBIA: In a shocking incident, 28 girls ended up in the hospital after they collapsed while using Ouija Boards and trying to "contact the dead." The girls reportedly passed out from "anxiety."

Hugo Torres, the director of the Galeras Educational Institution, where the incident took place, reportedly said, "There were 28 possible cases of anxiety in school students. Given the reported cases, a series of comments were unleashed on the community that, rather than helping to resolve the situation, led to confusion and an adverse environment for our work."

What happened to the girls?

The students were rushed to a local hospital, accompanied by their parents and school. School authorities and anxious teachers, who were with the girls when they were taken to the hospital, await an update on the girls' health. The authorties saw red when the girls started fainting and showed signs of anxiety among other symptoms, per the New York Post.

Although information regarding the students' diagnosis has not yet been made public, several parents have accused the school of using Ouija Boards. This is used to hold seances using a pointer and a board that has alphabets and letters on them. This staple of occult lore gained popularity through movies and books, especially those in the horror genre. Since their invention in the US in 1890, Ouija Boards are said to be able to communicate with the dead, per the Library of Congress.

'I see three or four children arrive after fainting'

One of the parents reportedly said, "I work here in a hospital kiosk and every day I see three or four children arrive after fainting," adding, "Parents, you have to move, investigate what's happening at school because our children cannot continue in this situation." She concluded, "Our children always have a good breakfast and it cannot be said that what's happening is due to lack of food." While authorities have not officially acknowledged whether a police investigation is ongoing, it is unclear when the school intends to inform people about the students' condition, per the Daily Mail.
