Kendra Duggar and Joseph Duggar welcome their first child
Joseph Duggar and Kendra Duggar announced that they have welcomed their first child, a son on June 8. Joseph's parents Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar shared the good news on their family website along with an adorable photo of the trio. "We are so thrilled to announce the arrival of our newest grandbaby, Garrett David Duggar. Kendra and the baby are healthy and happy! Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes!" wrote the proud grandparents.
TLC told E! that Kendra delivered without any complications and that, "Mom and baby are both doing great." While Joseph and Kendra added, " No matter how many times we’ve experienced the joy of babies born in our families, there’s nothing comparable to the joy in our hearts today! Children truly are a gift from God. We are so thankful for his safe arrival and this new journey as parents."
Kendra also took to Instagram to share this happy news. She revealed that their baby boy was born at 1:36 pm, weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches. In December, two months after they tied the knot, the couple confirmed that they were pregnant with their first child. “During this season that we are celebrating the birth of Christ, we are so excited to share with you that we are expecting the gift of a child ourselves!” Joseph and Kendra said during an interview with US Weekly.
The couple also stated they were excited to take on the new role of parents. “Wow, it’s so exciting!!! We’ve both always loved children and seen them as a real blessing from God. It’s so surreal to think of being parents and having our own little one. We cannot wait to see this new baby!” they continued. The couple used an "explosive" way of sharing with their family the news that they were going to have a baby boy.
The couple was able to do so with the help of Joseph's brother, John David Duggar who is an Arkansas constable and part-time officer with the Tontitown Police Department. In order to reveal the gender of the baby, Joseph and Kendra used tannerite mixed with blue-colored powder in an explosive and let the rest do the trick. Meanwhile, the Duggar family was seen standing about 20 yards behind John David.
During the interview with US Weekly, the couple expressed their joy upon finding out that their firstborn is a boy. “Wow! We are so happy to learn that our firstborn is a boy!” the pair said. “Our minds are already racing toward all the future memories to be made with this little guy! Most of all, we are already asking God to bless him and help us grow him into a loving and faithful follower of Christ!”
Little Garrett's birth will be the second Duggar grand-baby born in 2018 so far. In February, Joy Anna and Austin Forsyth welcomed a son named Gideon and as fans know, Jinger Vuolo is the only remaining 'Counting On' star who is still expecting. Jinger, in fact, has been sharing her pregnancy journey on Instagram. So seems like the counting is on for the Duggar family.
